Smokey Robinson was an important and influential artist to Motown Records. Not only did he perform, but he also wrote a lot of the early music for his own group (The Miracles) and other artists on the Motown label. Check out the signature song he composed for The Temptations called "My Girl."

Smokey Robinson to this day seems to be as chill as his music. I was in grammar school when this joint was out. Go talk to your folks and get that musical education. This is a legend living.

This joint is extra chilly most! Smokey (Smokey Robinson & The Miracles) is a legend from Motown Records. A supreme singer, songwriter, producer all in one. He wrote hits for everyone on Motown's roster and beyond. This song and others from him has been sampled by a lot of rappers. Some more tite joints from Smokey- Tears Of A Clown, Being With You, Ooo Baby Baby, Quiet Storm, Shop Around, Just To See Her & I Second That Emotion...

ICONIC. Smokey Robinson is a true poet and the legendary singer/songwriter behind a lot of the greatest hits at Motown.. He was like - the Babyface of the Motown era. He was THAT dude.

It is referred to as "Quiet Storm" after a 1975 Smokey record. Smooth, romantic R&B, with some jazz. Really predates "Smooth Jazz"

This is RNB. RNB went down in sound and quality after the 90's and became one dimensional as opposed to how dynamic it was. It's the grestest music ever made from the 50's to 90's.

I saw Smokey live, in a dinner theater type show. A great show. He sang the songs he wrote for his group the Miracles, and the songs he wrote for himself as a solo artist, and the songs he wrote for other Motown artists. Before each song Smokey would tell a little history about how he came to write the song. I stopped timing his performance at beyond the three-hour mark.

If you know anything about Motown and Berry Gordy then you know that Smokey Robinson was the hit songwriter and invisible silent partner to Berry Gordon at Motown records in Detroit Michigan , that sound you were listening to was the later version '70s version of the Motown sound which culminated through the second stage funk Brothers of Motown .

A lot of those old Jamaican, ska and reggae bands were heavily influenced by American soul and doowop, Bob Marley most definitely being one of them.

I've seen you from the Bone Thugs N Harmony reactions. My 2 all time favorites Smokey Robinson and Bone Thugs N Harmony. Smokey is the GOAT. 🐐 He's been performing since the late 1950s and I believe he still is till this very day. Now, that's true passion and dedication towards music. He wrote some of the biggest, most memorab!e classic hits for some of the biggest legends, including himself. I'm my opinion he is the greatest song writer of all time. He's done so much for music. A true one of a kind living legend.

Whatever you may think of Bruce Springsteen's music, you're in good company if this moves you. I recall reading Bruce describing this as the one song (given only one) that he'd want on a continuous loop for his "desert Island" choice. I'm in full agreement.
