Oh yeah, Smokey was the premier song writer, outside of Berry Gordy, and despite Motown having some of the most greatest talent and superb singers, songwriters and entertainers on Earth, Smokey Robinson was and is Motown for his captivating song writing , smooth falsetto singing voice, and how he delivered love through his music. When I was eight, I read every label, and looked for his name for writing credits. He was and is the man!
@charlesljones2454 Жыл бұрын
Smokey wrote songs for almost every artist who was in Motown at the time .....the marvelettes....Mary wells .....the temptations .....the four tops .....the supremes .....Brenda Holloway ......even Marvin himself.

❗ I don't think there will ever be a better interview with Smokey, this one was great, they took their time. There's one thing that I wish AL had asked Smokey though, how he came about singing that song who's going to take the blame, I always like that song and I always wonder if he really knew her if that was really the situation I guess I'll never know, but out of all the songs that smokey wrote In sung I don't think there's one that I didn't like, HE IS TRULY A LIVING LEGEND ‼️

The greatest record label ever, hands down, these people shaped the world but as individuals we very little if anything about how they clicked. I think this was a missed opportunity to ask new and interesting questions, I’ve heard Smokey answer those same questions so many times, remember we’ve been living in the reality era for years, and therefore I think there was a lack of imagination on Mr Rokers part. There must be some great stories to go with the high level of fierce but friendly competitiveness mentioned, but we rarely hear them. In my humble opinion, Standing in the shadows of Motown documentary is the most organic piece on the the internet. All in all still a worthwhile interview

I love you Smokie, I was always the Indian when my brother and I played the western games, of course my mom & aunt always watched these shows from morning to night, as a kid a little girl, I would always go outside no shirt on, and fix my hair like Micheal Jackson in a huge afro and my favorite character was Tonto, so that's who I portrayed. You guys made our generation the best, so thanks for all your albums my aunt kept a collection of all your music, and every Saturday my mom would play all the hit records while we did our chores for the day, which helped us dance our way around the house and before we knew it, we had laughed, danced and sanged great music and never once noticed that we were doing chores.
