A true classic! This guy has been reproduced in so many ways, and he’s part of so much of the robot art out there. I can only dream of having an original. 🤖🤖🤖

This is fun. I'm changing a windup robot from pin walker to foot mover. Fun challenge.

One thing you can't get on camera is the glorious smell of the smoke from the old smoking toys ! 🤧

So true, it just brings you back to being a kid playing with your toys.

As a collector, I was so happy for you when the both eyes lit up! Still smoking after all these years! “ Japanese made”

That in remarkably good condition. It looks like the eyes are supposed to light up only when it stops walking.

The eyes only light when the smoke bellows are pushed and that does only happen when it stops walking.

Not bad for a 60 year old robot

Kind of looks like a walking furnace, thick oven door handle, like my brother's cast iron stove. Could be trying to resemble a wood or coal powered Robot complete with chimney on the head. Sweeet.

In this model can you add liquid smoke through the mouth if need be?

As long as it is the petroleum-based smoke fluid. Light grade oil works best in this design as that is what was used back in the day.

Hey dude I’m thinking about getting one of these and just to ask what should I do if it doesn’t smoke anymore without disassembling it
@Robothut
@Robothut Жыл бұрын
If it is the 1950's version then tip the head back a bit and place a drop of smoke fluid in the mouth hole, let it run in and own. If it is one of the China repro ones then turn the robot upside down, tip the head back and place a drop or two in the mouth hole and let it run into the smoker. Fresh batteries are always a must with these toys also.

@@Robothutby the way just got one! What kind of smoke fluid should I use
@Robothut
@Robothut Жыл бұрын
@@TrashCanComputerChris You want to use a petroleum-based fluid like CREST SMOKE FLUID. But any light grade oil will work, like 3 in 1 oil or sowing machine oil. Back in the day they just loaded the cotton wool in the smoker units with light grade oil.

My spaceman well the 2 made in japan the eye bulbs come out like a lamp it's easy to replace them now the Chinese ones you can't they are soldered so not as good as the japanese
@Robothut
@Robothut 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it seems my turning the lamp back and forth made the lamp connection work again, and like you say all the repro ones have the lamps soldered in. The latest China repro ones do not even have lamps they have plastic lamp shapes that are filled with a LED.
One day.. 🙌
