@@MrKatfishHimself I called fast and slo-pitch for about 30 years in Houston-Softball Country Club Umpire-in-chief, ran Texas Instruments softball for 10 years while teaching school during day. I taught at ASA, USSSA,, ISA clinics in Greater Houston area from about 1975 until 1999. I was selected to call the 1985 World USSSA tourney in Carencro, LA, best food in the world. Umpiring like so many jobs is about being prepared, knowing the rules, conducting oneself so that 'crap' is less likely to happen. I hate laziness in umpiring.

@C I Everyone gets old. Perhaps except you. I had my time as a player in HS, rec ball and out of town tourneys until I could no longer. Then to stay in the game, I coached and called slo and fast pitch. I've had a life in ball and now I get to sit and think about all those thousands of good times. What have you done with your life? Anything?

sw48, you do a great job with these videos, could you zoom in on the various pitcher throws ocasionally? like do they try curves, knuckles, etc? And is it 4ft to 10 feet arch?

Sure, I will do that going forward. They pitch probably 70% knuckleballs and a few curves. Arc is 3 feet from the release or 10 foot max. It has to have a hump.

I played for team worth in the 90s with Marty Morphe team we had tucker swift and a few others,We knocked off Dan Smith in Hayward.I played right after i got released with the Orioles organization,i was a pitcher.I got more into fastpitch softball after a year with team worth.

Also how does the strike zone work? In Canada we play with a mat and if it hits the mat it’s a strike and if not ball. Also it looks like it’s a 3 ball walk or is that just because the video is condensed?

they start with a 1-1 count. no foul ball after the 1st strike. no mat. pitch has to have a hump

All you wanna be major players take note. To play at this level you must hit for power. Base hits are tolerated but HRs are what will take to get you solidly on a major team.

Not true at all. Like DW said just above me, this is unlimited home runs. Every other tournament (save for the Major World Series) you have to use your home runs smart. Every player in the conference has home run power and can also base hit you to death

I will say it differently....If you want to be a major player then you better be damn good... One of the top players in your state. It takes alot of God given ability, practice and dedication to play at the major level. You need to hit with alot of power to get noticed.

Everybody shook hands but one guy didn't shake one of the coaches hands after he shook the little guy's hand. I don't think it was any disrespect intended, I think he though he'd already shook his hand because of the excitement of them about to play the ship. That's all I could think of.
