Two thoughts on this. 1. My band just added 'Hotel Cal-------' to our set list. We tried the song for the first time at practice last week. Sounded great! ... but we only have two guitarists. So my co - guitar guy plays electric and I play acoustic through a Digitech Mosaic for that 12 string sound. Sounds GREAT. Of course at the end of the song it's the iconic Felder/Walsh solo with pretty heavy tones. This might do the trick? It is the first option to come up via Google. 2. I never would have thought to put an acoustic guitar through an overdrive ... then about 7 years ago there was a guy named 'Gordo' from Arkansas. He would come through St. Louis regularly and do his one man show with looper, bass, keys, and an acoustic guitar through an overdrive for portions of his show. Very talented! Great show. And yes ... his acoustic through an OD sounded great! He quickly developed a large following here.

Wonder how that sounds on a Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster, I have one, and I am looking for some distorted sounds too.
@JeremyHalterman3 жыл бұрын
The blend knob is key. When I mix acoustics, I like to blend in a harmonic exciter just enough to where you don’t notice the distortion but miss the sparkle when it’s off. This could do that, and with even more control over the tone. But I don’t think I’d ever turn the blend knob past like 9 o’clock. Eek.

Yep… I wanted to like this pedal. I owned it for about 2 days and can’t get passed how loud the button is through the amp/PA. It’s loud AF
@leecanning1232 жыл бұрын
i just got one of these, it is pretty good compared to using a tubescreamer as the TS is fizzy and not quite right for acoustic. Thing i dislike about this is the drive knob- from 0-12 oclock there is nothing, it just turn the volume all the way down really, its not til 12oclock it gets the dirt, so really you have half of this knob doing anything. i would like to see the full range from very light to even more heavy, the heaviest isnt heavy enough in my opinion. alo the actual pedal clicker button- that is horribly tough to press, not good for a quick stomp to change in the middle of a song. My NUX Atlantic which sits next to it has the same type of switch and are smooth as, i will look to replace this switch on the fender. i like the blend function, that could be useful. Ultimately i think it is good because it has that cabinet emulation which is what distortion on an acoustic needs- perhaps in future they could ad a few different cab options like other cab sim pedals on the market. i hope fender reads this and takes on board these points. overall is good for giving dirt to an acoustic sound wise and that is what im all about. Sound! Tone!
@MikeUpie2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. I just tried mine out. Not enough "break up" compared to what I hear in this demo above! I almost want to return it now after comparing mine to the above overdrive sound. I'm plugged into a small PA- but may try it into my Fender Acoustasonic amp before I Velcro it to my pedalboard. And, yes, that click in the pedal is far too loud, especially if doing a quieter show. I've turned knobs for half an hour and can't seem to get enough distortion/OD out of it. WTH?
@MikeUpie2 жыл бұрын
As I said above, I went direct to my Acoustasonic amp and the Smoulder worked FINE for a change. That means I HAVE to place it last on my pedalboard. I tried it before my PlayAcoustic, etc., and it sounded quite weak, meaning the PlayAcoustic was damping-down the OD effects of the Smoulder pedal! Fender needs to TELL guitarists to put this pedal LAST in line on a pedal chain of effects. Maybe put that tidbit in their unbelievably weak product pamphlet that comes in the box. Next up: replace the very loud Off/On stomp switch with a silent one!
