Is there something I don't get about his laning phase or why does Smoldi get picked more in mid than bot in pro? Like, the reajustments were ment to scew him more towards bot, but pros seem to disregard this.

3 main reasons as I understand it: It’s much easier to set up q stacking on minions in a solo lane because you are often less pressured off waves csing under tower. Next xp is something smolder likes a lot because of 4 damage abilities, he has high hp growth for an adc and builds ruby crystals in items like sojin making him naturally tankier the longer the game goes on (especially if you use grasp). Lastly when lane ends smolder is one of the few adc that like to be on side into the enemy tank/ weak side of the map cause its main priority is getting to item and stack spikes. While you can fulfill the adc role of standing midlane wave clearing and throwing spells at enemy you are less effective than most other adc either because of cc (like varus Caitlyn jinx or kalista with an engage support) or because you get outranged (by stuff like ezreal jhin or ziggs) TLDR smolder is played solo lanes because you are under less threat having an easier time stacking and farming early and also the champion fulfills better the role of a sidelaner. PS what is written here is more so true for pro play than it is for soloq as the meta ad mid lane pool at the minute is quite small and games are generally slower paced and more controlled, but it’s still mainly true in soloq (although I wouldn’t blind smolder mid since you are risking them picking an assassin with cc jgl and ur game being kinda over)

I am low masta smolder main, and let me tell you, nemesis and profesionals bulids on smolder are so wrong. Seems like they didnt read smolder changes few patches ago. U dont need ER anymore cuz Q gives mana back. Correct bulid is = Hubris, Shojin, BT, LDR, Ie almost every game. In this game if Nemesis bought Hubris instand of ER he would have around 140ad from hubris alone. Smolder true dmg scale heavily with AD. With my bulid true dmg in late game is around 14-15% true dmg. Smolder is even better now cuz of it but ppl shouldnt buy ER and RFC anymore. Stacks after 225 are still great. It gives a lot of dmg on W and E. ( with 500 stacks smolder E can do around 1300dmg alone). Additionaly after true dmg amplifiers after next patch shojin are gonna be amazing.

@@damiandawid2747 ER still helps with mana and gives all the stats smolder rly wants with haste, ad, and crit( which I would place above lethality for dmg on smolder no?) I get that the ad stacking is rly good but I feel like its way too unreliable and you just deal way more on ER into IE no? I guess you are less tanky but you can still go shojin and you get JOA stacks easily with this build too

ER is not really bought for the mana but because it has amazing gold value for a crit item and is therefore best first item and gives the exact stats you need. I guess into tanks you could opt to go more for pure AD to up the true damage but into squishies the AD scaling on Q skyrockets with crit build insanely. And coincidentally usually squishy comp consist of lot of ranged champs which smolder can have trouble into when he gets outranged, which sometimes makes RFC really crucial. I think it was like almost 300% ad scaling on his Q with full crit build. Thats usually enough to do half health of anyone you Q which makes RFC good enough even if you lack a bit of pure AD.

Is this bait? Essence reaver outperforms hubris in almost every scenario; the only time hubris is better is if you get ahead early, and even then ER will outscale as you get more stacks. ER + IE gives 77.5% boost in damage to your q, while also giving your auto’s chance to crit

since Smolder's passive deals magic damage....if you have AP carries on your team you can build Bloodletter's Curse as a fifth or sixth item to shred the enemy MR in the late game.
