I’m sure there’s a way to justify it in Cm, but it sure does feel more like Gm the whole way to me. 🙂

Not sure about Cm (scale) but certainly C Dorian works. But after section 2, difficult to come back to C as the root note as the brain latches on to G after playing for a few bars of section 2. Of course, the switch works as C Dorian and G minor (or Aeolian) share the same notes (ie, both are modes or Bb Major/Ionian).
