Hi John, this piece of equipment helps in converting alternating current to direct current, by basically reducing or 'smoothing' the current once it has been through the main converter equipment (thyristor valves).

Pretty amazing.. Wonder how many Henry's it is and voltage.. Nerd facts I guess some would say. The diameter, thickness and height of that beast I would say 1 Henry at maybe 500 kV. For sure will knock down any ripple that's a fact.

40-80 millihenries at best. The higher the henries, the more the energy dissipated. You don't want that.

3 years ago. That line reactor only allows low frequency to pass through knocking "ripple" off the pulsating direct current sign wave. Capacitor banks fill in the gaps.. Another video. That's the best of my knowledge.
