Glad I watched the whole video. Was thinking what an overly-complicated procedure to make one part, but that was the bag mould for many copies. Pretty cool process.

The resin runner can be ordered direct from Smooth-On or from Reynolds Advanced Materials. We are in the process of adding these ancillaries to our website.

The rigidity or flexibility of the part is based on the resin used. In this case, a high-impact resistant resin was used.

@DILUSI You can order that profile from Smooth-On directly.

I love how I watch these videos, think it's a great idea for what I'm looking to do, and then spend hours searching their site looking for the stuff. The resin runner they talk about, doesn't even show up when you use the search function on the site. Since someone is paid to sit and upload the video. How about posting a link to each smooth on product used in the video, in the description?

how come there is no need for infusionmesh, and breeder on top of the fiberglass? when you do normal resin infusion with a vacuumbag you should use it to have a good resin-/airflow... but the silicone has the same effect as the vacuumbag... or am I missing something? :)

Wow, this is amazing. How does the silicon cover last; time or number of uses? Thanks :)

Well, that is not correct at all. The stiffness and strenght is purely dependant on type, tickness of laminate and fiber orientation of the fiber material and almost nothing on the resin. But I like your product and would like to see you make some more structural pieces with a thicker layup. I find it very hard to believe that they build windturbine blades with one layer of CSM glass....How do you prevent the resin short circuiting when the vacuum hose completely surrounds the part?
@josephalcatras1915 жыл бұрын
We use almost 200 layers of different types of fiber glass plus otjer material for a 65 meters long and 13 centimetres thick blade

Why bother with the infusion process in this case? Obviously if matt is being used then light weight is not a requirement. Why not just do a wet layup?

Hi Scott, thanks for watching. This article outlines some reasons for resin infusion - www.materialstoday.com/composite-applications/features/why-vacuum-infusion-benefits-your-quality-budget/

Probably used matt just for the vid. Likely use other materials for actual part. Just a guess.
