Finally!!!! As a recent education graduate, I have always wanted to see how a "first day of school" looks like. This helped a lot! Thank you so much for the upload.

I love that you shared your favorite color with the students. The norm for a male is like blue, green, or red. Teaching them something different really helps to teach diversity! I think they will be more open to differences :)

Honestly if I could have had a teacher like you when I was in elementary school kindergarten I would have loved going to school. I wasnt fortunate enough to go to kindergarten back in those days so I went to first grade not knowing much. I was nervous and scared and had a teacher with little patience. Maybe because she was older and ready to retire she was done. Your a blessing to all children. Love to watch you teach. Your amazing and right where you need to be. Thank you for your dedication!!❤️👨🏻🏫🖍✏️📚

This video of the first day of kindergarten is awesome. Mr. Greg, you prepared so well in advance and it paid off with a smooth morning for you and your students. I loved the fact that you shared your feelings about being afraid on this first day because I'm sure most if not all your students felt the same way. I know I do every time I start something new especially in a classroom. Thank you so much for sharing and allowing us to observe your classroom to see how things can work so well with good preparation. God bless you. We all need teachers like yourself.

Cute classroom setup! Nice teacher! I am so happy to see many male teachers in the elementary schools become more accepted and normalized as a part of the scholastic environment! ☺️👍🏼

@emily67117 you ain't never lied. I work in education and I used to substitute teach in a predominately hispanic and black school. The Hispanic students would always be so well behaved and never game me any problems. The black students on the other hand was a different story..lol

Loved how much we are able to observe in this video. I noticed a lot of long pauses when waiting for students to participate in classroom discussion/activities. Is this common for most kindergarteners on the first day of school or is this more related to language/cultural differences when working with ESL/Bilingual students? I am about to start student teaching and honestly have no idea what to expect.
@gregsmedley2 жыл бұрын
The pauses are normal for every classroom. Wait time is so important!

I wanna know how Mr. Greg responds when students swear, fight, and tell him, "you're not my mom I don't have to listen to you!" because that's what I'm dealing with on a daily basis.

Marc Wyant I’ve been there. I’ve had those years. Being consistent and firm in expectations and consequences. Rewarding positive behavior and good choices. Involving admin, families and counselors as needed.

@@gregsmedley Please make a video sometime on how you handle those situations both in the moment and long-term. I am really working on trying to keep my cool in these situations but it's tough to figure out the most appropriate course of action when positive reinforcement isn't working at all. I have kids who AVOID positive reinforcement.
@gregsmedley2 жыл бұрын
@@KassieJane I won't make a video of that because I would never want to put my students in that situation. It's hard to stay calm and not get frustrated and take things personally. Sometimes I just walk away for a minute. Call a buddy teacher to relieve you for a minute. Sometimes, ignoring the behavior works the best!

Are we gonna do this? _Stomps vigorously_ Kinda fun, ngl, wish the kids didn't say no to that - later in the video when they dance to that song they are clearly giggling and having fun, wonder why they were like "No..." when asked if they would stomp and jump in the hallway
@yeahthatkels3 жыл бұрын
The hallways isnt for play time and could disrupt others. So " no" we are not going to stomp jump and ne silly while walking quietly in the hallway
