[SMRT] Kawasaki Nippon Sharyo C751B [351/352] - Expo » Tanah Merah (CGL)

351/352 does a extra trip on CGL as T741, with a new in-train passenger chime, similar to the Japanese style announcements. I’m still not so sure what I think about the chime, but it’s definitely something unique.
351/352 last entered CGL last Wednesday on 4th October, doing a similar run.
This train has been decommissioned and scrapped.

Train captain really making the train fans happy, play all three types of announcements. Seems like it didn't pick anyone up at Changi Airport.

Yeah 😂 train was pretty empty since T741 is not a proper CGL run so I think the dwell time at Changi Airport was very short.

This one is more of TC making manual announcement by himself. Only 1:37 and 2:44 onwards is pre-recorded and channeled down from OCC into the train

Train PA at 1:38 and 2:44 are RCCP broadcasted announcements which means the PA is played from the Train Radio System (TETRA) instead of locally from ATIS. Hence the difference in sound quality.

@@Ethan777100 These days technology has improved to the point it's very frequent to have live announcements from OCC. Maybe the day will come when R151 have their driver cabs removed.

Not so straightforward. For now. R151 and newer trains like KSF Replacement (R151A?) will continue sporting a Driving Cab.@@sgbuses

Interesting! It definitely adds more vibrance to the otherwise monotonous announcements. Although it feels "off" as it uses a melody with softer bells compared to the hard-sounding chime we're all used to - maybe it takes time. Wonder if this is intended to replace all announcements or only for transfer stations like on the Taipei MRT.

I agree! So far the chime is only tested on CGL. Not sure about the rest of NSEWL.
