Notice about finding 100 coins: There's more coins to find in episode 2, so I recommend you enter that episode instead if you don't care about going fast/speedrunning! Episode 6 also works well if you have yoshi and can eat bees from the beehive I have been getting a lot of comments lately since the switch release, so I figured this might be useful information for some of you :)

For those struggling with the ropes - go up to the amphitheatre and spray the green birds until they turn into coins - there's 8 or 9 there, that helped me get the shine

I remember first encountering that big ass caterpillar back when I was younger and was startled and got the heck out the way LOL. I miss this game, one of the best Mario games alongside Mario 64.

It kinda irritates me that jumping under the cash register in the one hut gives you coins, as I never even thought to do that. Whatever, got the shine and didn't have to quit and find a different stage at 97 coins

I search for "Gelato Beach 100 Coins", see one video that's 16 minutes long, say "nah", see this one's only three minutes, think "sweet", start following along... and my red rocket-nozzle box is a hologram...

You have to find the rocket nozzle in a later episode before it works in other boxes and episodes. I'm not 100% sure since it's been a very long time since I played, but I believe it has to be past episode 4 (so 5, 6, 7 or 8 will do) and it is located on the little platform where I grab 6 coins around 1:20 I also pinned a comment explaining a better/easier episode for collecting 100 coins when you're not trying to speedrun

Thanks man for telling me you have to unlock the rocket nozzle. Just spent a long time trying to get the last 5 coins I needed in the sky. Now I have to do it all over again.

Sorry man. As I said in the pinned comment, there are other episodes better suited for simply completing the mission. The video was originally made to showcase a route for this particular mission in speedruns. If you have an idea for where I should have mentioned it, so you wouldn't have missed that, then feel free to leave a suggestion

Wish I had seen this video before reading every guide that said episode 8 was the best one to do this shine in. And then I died with 97 coins in episode 8 too so I did that incredible repetition fest twice! Silly me.

At 2:28 to 2:36, you do a super whirl jump (on the rope) with max height, so you can actually get the 10 coins there. Whenever I do this, I seem to fall short of it by varying amounts. What is the trick to doing this CONSISTENTLY?

TRex Quisite you just have to make sure to have full speed (spinning all the way around the rooe) and then hold forward before and during the jump. Sometimes you might miss 1 coin if you're not perfectly aligned, but you usually get all 10

I thought about doing this for my 120 shines, but then I thought about needing Yoshi - Though I tend to run out of coins by the end of gelato 6 :P

Problem with this for 120 is that no blue coins in the water exist on this shine. Since you do 100 coins on gelato 6 though I guess your overall route may be very different.
