You know what I love about this scene? A while after this you get a shot a dropping from the same place that dante did as a shortcut down the building. However, you and your party all get down to 1 hp if you do so. If you have Dante in your party, however, He stays perfectly fine while your on the verge of death.

Highly rushed development of DMC2 I supposed,Hideki Itsuno was shoved into the development of DMC2 when progress hasn't really started and the team only has like a few months before the game gets published. It's also why DMC3 and DMC4 turned out to be surprisingly better than DMC2 since Itsuno now has more than just 2-3 (correction:It's 6 months) months for directing a game

Man the details in this fight are great. If you pay close attention, you can see that Dante recovers MP when taunting just like he would recover Devil Trigger in DMC. Not only that, but it's the exact same taunt used in DMC1. On top of that, the music sounds like a DMC1 track done in the style of Nocturne's soundtrack. Dante also just fits perfectly in this game, being half human and half demon just like the Demi Fiend.

While I very much dislike Devil May Cry 2 as a terribly boring game and hate Dante's lack of personality in it, his costume design in that game remains to be my favorite. This is why I enjoy Devil May Cry 2 Dante being SMT Nocturne so much, because he's actually awesome in this game, and his lines are very much "Dante". (Well, maybe not DMC3 ridiculous but that game wasn't out yet.) The whole thing was an interesting trade, Atlus getting to use Dante (DMC2) in SMT III and Capcom getting Atlus to design Dante and Vergil's devil triggers in DMC3, which is why they look so much like SMT demons.

Ah, I love Nocturne. I still remember me playing this game and falling head over heels for it. And that Dante soundtrack! Badass-ness! I give the game developers credit for boosting up the A.I. of Dante. Unless you're ten levels above him, you're constantly having to use your turns wisely, making sure to buff up to mediate his insane Crits/Provokes. It's really easy for Dante to one-shot the party since he likes to pick off the weakest links fast, including the main character. I remember at the Labyrinth I thought I was really smug since I leveled my amigos to an insane level. And yet, Dante managed to kill me off with them Crits and well timed provokes. :/ Also, so happy I wasn't the only one using the Unicorn. LOL. During my first blind playthrough, that unicorn became valuable on account of the buffs he gave the party.

I've started playing both games at the same time, and while DDS is great for someone who has never played a SMT game before (like me), it's not as engaging as Nocturne is (which is not saying the game is not good, I'm loving both really). I love how I've been 100%ing DMC2 so much that I can recognize literally *all* of Dante's sounds in this version of the game are just reused Matthew Kaminsky voice clips along with the gun sounds *also* being reused, granted the sound effects are of MUCH higher quality here than in DMC2, so it's cool hearing all of those sounds in better clarity. Can't wait to hear what Langdon sounds like in the Remaster, I've been staying away from videos with his voice in it cause I wanna hear it for myself when I get done with....SMT 2, Kyūyaku Megami Tensei, and...If, yeah let's just say Nocturne ain't happening for for a while, but that wait will be well worth it. *....It ain't worth it btw, don't 100% it.*

Trish: And to think! I saw a DMC3 trailer where Dante broke his silence for the first time! I hope fans won't refuse to buy that game because Dante won't be their avatar anymore! Gouto: I'm waiting for a Raidou 3 where Raidou won't need me anymore because he will get a voice! Trish: Me too. I saw Dante's voice in the trailer and he sounded so awesome that I would do everything to turn Atlus into a voiced protagonist Lucifer: Atlus's protagonists will never get a voice as it will alienate the player and make them feel that they're watching a story rather than being part of it. Remember Digital Devil Saga and Radiant Historia's protagonists Serph and Stocke? They have a canon name, personality and backstory, but Atlus wants the players to insert themselves in the protagonists so it kept Stocke and Serph silent while making the original Stocke and Serph from the flashbacks speak. (The fight ends in a tie. The protagonists are almost dead and Trish shows Dante the DMC3 trailer) Trish: It was awesome! Ain't that right, Dante? Dante:................................................................................ Trish: Wasn't it you who spoke? Dante: Yeah. Gouto: A PROTAGONIST TALKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucifer: Don't be excited, Gouto. It's just a one-liner. He doesn't have actual dialogue, just grunts and dialogue options. (Dante shoots Lucifer in the mouth) Dante: Now you're the silent one, not me! Gouto: So I was right. Say something, Raidou! Raidou: Will Atlus finally give me a speaking role in Raidou 3????????????????????

I haven't played it yet, but from what I understand Dante is hired to kill the main character, but a while after the second fight, he reappears and tells the main character they have the same goals and the path ahead will get tougher. Because of this Dante offers to join your team... for a price. If you have him join, he tells you that if you call the coin flip right, it will cost one macca, but if it's wrong, you owe him half of what you got. If you've played DMC 2, you will know to pick heads.

I think the best part (which everyone is forgetting) is that Dante jumped off the building prior to this fight which put him at 1 HP of his health, and he fights you with that much of his strength for a boss battle.

Here is a quick explanation of what the persona series is about. Instead of summoning demons and other shit to fight with you (although you still do that) you have a Persona (which is basically a demon or angel etc.) in each persona game they summon them differently (trust me i found the gun thing weird at first too). 1 and the 2 games are more focused on the style of the SNES SMT games while 3 and 4 have a completely different style. P.S in 3 and 4 god and Lucifer are pesonas you can summon

actually the reason was that Capcom wanted Kazuma Kaneko to do some artwork for DMC3, he designed all the devil arms devil trigger forms, in exchange Capcom let Dante be a cameo character.

I know that depending on path choice and such you can ask Dante to join you; though he's considered a demon and you can't quite fuse him or remove him from the group after he joins but has some strong skills.

It's too bad that we'll probably never see this older Dante design again. He's was all kinds of badass, but because DMC2 was not well recieved, they've been doing everything possible -even rebooting the series!- to avoid having to to move the storyline chronology forward.
