It's quite clever. I've only watched it twice so far, but I think I'd need to watch it a few more times to catch all the subtleties. I'd want to understand what exactly your compiler generates (GDS directly?) and how the ROMs are integrated. You have covered some of this already though. Too bad we have to wait so long to see how well the theory matched the practice.

BTW you can look in the TT09 repo (either final OAS or in the source repo for the Atari 2600 or my ROM test project) to find some of the ROM. The compiler does generate a GDS directly yes. ATM it's not complete yet, so what I did for the test tapeouts is I take the GDS it generates, then using magic, wrap it and add the missing bits that are not yet auto-generated. If you look at the TT09 rom hierarchy you'll find the "rom_xxx_core" is the auto-generated stuff and the "rom_xxx" is the wrapper. I had some test structures ( mostly bit cell ) on TT08 already so I should be able to do some preliminary testing when that comes back in March.
