The 4.6 was bulletproof, had 2002 Mustang for 15 years and never a problem with the motor or the 5 speed manual. Always changed oil at 3,000 miles
@geraldscott43022 ай бұрын
Absolutely always change the oil every 3000 miles. That one of the reasons my 2006 Grand Marquis has 387,000 miles on it, and still runs like new. The other main thing is I always warm up the engine before driving it. It still has the original plastic intake manifold.
@NGG19833 жыл бұрын
the reason actual cold air intakes route the intake into the fender is it can draw cold air from inside the fender well. the under hood ones are breathing hot under-hood air regardless of the heat shield. there's a reason the stock plastic air box has a pipe going in there.

Awesome video! Good information and walk around of your Mustang! I'm picking up a 94 Black GT tomorrow, Hoping for good condition. Will post some videos on that car soon I hope. Also, I have the same Kenwood headunit in my Charger. Not really happy with it though. The BT and the microphone doesn't work very well. Getting a Grundig head unit with DAB radio instead...

The leather seats need some attendtion. Otherwise its a good car. Probably around 1000.00- 2000.00 will make it perfect. I have basically the same car other than I have the black on black leather interior. The sound systems actually came in 4 options mach. Mach 460 GT premium and standard. When I did my system last year I went through the hell of trying to get the right adapter for a deck and actually phoned ford directly to figure it all out. Great video

@Raffiki7773K the mach 460s are actually pretty good for what they are.. my car came factory with the GT premium which came with only one amplifier under the dash and upgraded 6x9s all around. I guess it was ok for 98 but it was hell trying to get the right harness to get it the way I wanted it. Putting in a double din also proved to be alot of work your basically need the fascia from an 01 so instead of cutting my dash up I just put a badd ass single din in. Comp kickers all around in 6x9s with a terminator amp and Rockford Fosgate 10 in the trunk. It does pretty good but I'm gunna put double tens in to get a bigger boom out of it.

Get the factory Ford Pi intake with the aluminum crossover the Dorman one stay away from that flows horribly and actually Robs horsepower. Or if you're not on a budget and plan on spraying some nitrous definitely get the aluminum professional product or if you really want a nice intake get the trick flow intake

First of all, the SN95 was a 1000% improvement over the 1979-1993 Foxbody, which I consider to be the ugliest American car ever made. It also had the structural integrity of a cardboard box, which is pretty much what it looked like. Sadly, the SN95 was still built on the Fox platform, so structural rigidity was still a major problem. The 4.6L 2 valve is probably the most reliable and longest lasting motor Ford ever made. I have one in a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis, with 387,000 miles on it, and it has never been apart. Still runs like new. The DOHC 4 valve motors made slightly more power, but nowhere near as reliable as the 2V. 6 years ago, I bought an almost like new 2003 Zinc Yellow 3.8L V6 Mustang for use as a daily driver. It had 84,000 miles on it. Power is NOT something you need in a daily commuter car. I bought it because I had no desire to drive a small gray front wheel drive 4 door sedan or crossover. In other words, I bought it for the looks. Most people buy Mustangs for the looks, not performance. In 2003, 39% of all Mustangs sold were V6 coupes, FAR more than any other version. Only 17% were GT coupes. Paid $4200 from a private seller, and it has been nearly 100% reliable. Being a 2003, it came with 16" wheels. Before replacing the tires, I was able to locate a nice set of 15" wheels from a 2000 model V6, so I could put normal sized tires on it. The biggest issue with the 3.8L OHV V6 was Ford's use of a cast iron block and aluminum heads. That is a recipe for trouble with any engine. Cast iron and aluminum expand and contract at different rates and amounts, and eventually the head gaskets are going to fail. That is clearly a design flaw. Mine still has the original head gaskets. I always let it warm up slowly before driving it. I expect to get over 200,000 miles out of it before it needs head gaskets.

I agree! It's kinda expensive to build that 4.6 liter 2 valve up to a nice hp range. I have a 1997gt and tossed that 4.6 and went with a AJE tubular k-member and dropping a 351w/427 stroker in it. It cost more to do this set up but it will be cheaper to maintain and will drop nearly 550hp at the flywheel when I'm done. Nothing is wrong with building the 4.6 two valve if money is an issue but for me, having the cam in the block was a more desirable way and i grew up on the push rod engines. But either is based on the person and what u can afford and preference
