It is nice to see the 244 in use. In the 1980's the 244 and 245 (bidirectional) were often my go to for bus use.

Friend, I have a big question, I have a BTS7690 module that is used to control the direction of a DC motor, but the SN54HC244 integrated circuit has continuity in the VCC and GND pin (pin 10 and 20), is it in another circuit? I would appreciate your help friend

I assume that when you release the input enable switch the chip retains the state of the data switch?
@SteveRaynerMakes2 жыл бұрын
No, when the output enable lines are high the outputs are high-impedance, when the output enable is low then the outputs match the inputs. Nothing is stored.

@@tuppyglossop222 Correct! Watch Mr. Carlson's Lab Nixie Tube frequency counter video thats 116:39 long at the 34 minute mark to see the chip in action.

I'm just reading through Steve Ciarcia's book and have this and the HC254 and I was going to use this to buffer the Z80, but then I read on a forum that they recommend 74LS244 instead because they're schottky's. Can I use the ones I have?

Do you mean a 245? I'm not aware of a 254. If so, both the 244 and 245 are schmitt trigger. Not sure about the schottky part you are referring to. Where as the 244 is unidirectional, known as a buffer, the 245 is bi-directional, known as a transceiver. I believe either would work in this application. I would presume back in the day the 245 would have been more expensive. But I'm only guessing.

If you mean HC versus LS then it might work, or it might not. The voltage levels are different HC=CMOS and LS/HCT=TTL
