Really enjoying these. You might have covered this in an earlier video, but what's the ultimate goal for the car? Maintenance type stuff only? Or is there a long-term performance goal?
@GrandTouringConcepts
@GrandTouringConcepts 5 жыл бұрын
Great question! For the #sixxer project we haven't quite outlined the goal, we will try to lay that out properly in a future video, but for now it's our demonstrator test bed for mods and installs we feel are important to share with the SN95 community. It does need a lot of maintenance though, years of neglect are pretty plain! Thanks for watching and commenting, we are really glad to hear your feedback and questions. - Darren

Yes my ‘94 Mustang handles like a 4X4 but here in San Franhellhole, it’s absolutely necessary lol. Pothole laden streets require additional ride height making for a smooth drive lmao. Never mind all the poop, pee, and puke,lol.

SF politicians sunk money into social issues instead of city infrastructure so this city has an extensive number of pot-hole laden streets.

I did tubular arms in my sn95 V8 and I didn't have to take the mufflers off. Probably because I cut the up and overs off and made 6-in stingers off the mufflers. Which surprisingly is legal here in California LOL

I’m running the same springs. Glad you guys opted for BMR instead of Summit’s house brand control arms. My car came with them, horrible...I mean extremely bad. Going with Steeda’s upper / lower control arms. Had them on my show 94 for 17 years....love them.
@GrandTouringConcepts
@GrandTouringConcepts 5 жыл бұрын
100% agree on the Summit Racing control arms, for us it was a matter of best (USA made) parts for the lowest possible cost, this is a beater grade Mustang of course but we aren't particularly interested in being super cheap at the expense of quality. Steeda makes quality pieces, we have also run Hotchkis with good success, and consider Maximum Motorsports the gold standard of Fox/SN95 suspension.Thanks for the tidbit on the the Steeda arms, I always like to hear datapoints with different pieces. I moved back to rubber bushings for ride quality for a daily. The car has FORD B springs and Bilsteins and rode rough with polys. Now, it rides nicer with rubber isolators with no maintenance.

Not a bad choice really, rubber bushings do have their benefits. With our '84 GT350 build I will likely stay with rubber bushings, at least in the upper mounts.

Sn95 ftw! Ive had gsr integras w/jspec swap (11.0c/r) and a bmw 535i and yes bmw outhandles, gsr is hard to beat 8.5k shift point w/skunk2 valvetrain...however, brute force is the way to go. 351w swap this biatch and its over. Suspension mods are a must in the 94-04. One word for suspension/steering is Steeda!

Glad to hear they are working out for you. We rip on Sportlines, not for ride quality, (they ride well) but for how they negatively impact steering geometry (excessive bumpsteer) and they lack the spring rate for good cornering performance. Even the stiffer Pro-Kit which I run is a bit undersprung on a light track day with a moderate tire. For cruising and appearance, Sportlines work as advertised. @GrandTouringConcepts
@GrandTouringConcepts 5 жыл бұрын
We do have a yet unintroduced SN95 in the project that has undergone a GT40P swap, look for it in an upcoming video. A 351W swap is a very popular request, and we do have the resources available to cobble one together but there is a lot involved in the swap that not a lot of people realize. We discuss moving a 351W into this car fairly regularly, but it still hasn't won out at the internal "project meetings" Thanks for your comment and question! - Darren

@@RidingtheReaper Thanks! I bought it 15 years ago as a 2nd owner car, and have been steadily tinkering with it ever since. That takes forever and effort to drill those bushings out. Instead, I heated up the outside of the bushings evenly (the metal of course) and they popped out like a zit!! Best of all, no damage done by a drill bit. Can be a bit messy if you aren't careful. Just nice when all the rubber comes out tho!

@GrandTouringConcepts
@GrandTouringConcepts 5 жыл бұрын
Sharp eye! For now we are sticking with the stock bars, until we have some time to really assess the dry pavement performance of the current setup. As you may well know the swaybars are one of the easiest ways to tune understeer, oversteer, and neutral so it's very important to get it right. We plan to address swaybars and their selection in an upcoming video, and are glad to hear you like the Steeda pieces, they have been in the Mustang game a long time. Should've upgraded to Eibach sway bars. That rear bar looks like it's one tight corner from snapping in two.
@GrandTouringConcepts
@GrandTouringConcepts 5 жыл бұрын
Its a logical idea to upgrade sways as well, but the actual selection process is not quite that linear. Sway bars must be specially selected to match a desired handling dynamic and every car/driver is different. This because in a corner swaybars act as a spring which leverage the unloaded side spring to add more spring rate to the loaded side. What this means is going to the the wrong sway bar might result in heavy understeer or oversteer. Sways must be integrated into the suspension as a tuning aspect of the suspension system, and are the easiest way to dial in oversteer, understeer, or neutral cornering behaviours. The off shelf brands are great parts but should not just be installed blindly based on "additional stiffness" alone, weight transfer is an important factor to tire grip, but being too stiff can result in a car that does turn and just scrubs out. They will behave differently based on vehicle weight, tire grip etc. For the #sixxer we have to baseline how it runs as is first, then decide what bars need to be installed. Typically we settle on a "mismatched" set of bars in our final setups, but the sixxer will be another animal yet. Thanks for watching and the comment! - Darren
@sixstanger00
