I am also having the challenge of snails in my little garden but i realiaed that when i spray organic insecticide i met with neem oil, backing soda and liquid soap the nails dont eat the bubs. You can also take the opportof doing a snal farm around there during the dry season so you harvest them now and put them in the farm for the dry season so it will compensate you for the damaged papayaa. Snsils are a delicacy in Nigeria.

A wild thought here but is definitely practicable..... what if you do the same pattern used to protect snails from Ants and snakes which is ti dig a sandcreet block size of hole all around your farm deeper is better then fill it with Either water mixed with engine oil or Salty water....that will keep the snails off as they dislike salt so much.. just my thoughts though... could be a little expensive for the setup but its definitely one time and worth it. All youll have to do next is pick the ones already on the farm and be rest assured you wont have any new ones coming in... hope this helps in any way.

Too bad, I am also dealing with snail and caterpillar problem. These things destroyed almost all my summer squash and watermelon plants. I am into organic farming, so the readily available option to me is hand-picking them. They usually hide under dead leaves and shady areas during the day, normally coming out to feed during cooler hours, that's why it is difficult to get them. I hope you succeed in getting them under check.
