The mice are just so adorable! I bet that Wren and Lark are so happy to be living in the big enclosure now! Glad that the mice get along so well. ❤ And so happy to see little old man Wispa still getting around. Also, I'm having a conversation with a person who says that rats can live to be 6-8 years old when they have good living conditions and is basically implying that rats that live the average lifespan of 2-3 years aren't being taken care of properly. They act like I don't know what I'm talking about when I tried to tell them that even rats that have the best care will still usually live around 2-3 years and that going over 3 is pretty rare. I'm not going crazy, right? 😂 Someone reassure me, please? 😅 I mean, the oldest living rat that was recorded was 7 years and 4 months, but that is extremely rare based on what I have read.
@Emiology2 жыл бұрын
You’re not wrong! People like that are delusional and getting themselves confused. 3 is great but anything above that is the equivalent of a human living 200/300 years it just doesn’t happen. Rats can live a very long time if you leave them to it but they’ll have no quality of life and they’ll be skin and bones at 4 years old. The world record of 7 was removed for a while because they had no evidence to back it up!
@rowdyrats70352 жыл бұрын
@@Emiology Oh, thank you for clearing that up. I just did a quick Google search about the oldest rat and that popped up. I didn't know how true that was lol. Then read some articles, in only one article it mentioned that some rats live 6-7 years, but now I think that it might have been based on the "oldest living rat's" age. But yeah, that conversation reminded me of a lot of people on internet who say that their hamster lived to be like 7 when that's impossible. That person said that they have many friends with rats that live to be over 6, I thought, damn, where can I get these rats. 😂 Would love to have rats with such long lifespan.

@@rowdyrats7035 I know, Right? thanks Emiology for answering, this helped me too. I'd LOVE for Rats to have such a long Lifespan. I wish it was the same for Mice, too. Mice were my first Rodent pet. apparently, the rat who won a world record for the longest living Rat was named Rodney. not sure if its true, there's not much evidence, like Emiology said.

those arcadia grow lights are fantastic, I use them for my tropical plant collection. Some plants don't like the intensity of the 22 or 34W lights, such as gardenia and calathea, which seem to wither and burn SO quick under them, but philodendrons, syngonium and pothos/scindapsis thrive!

They would be staying at my mom's while I'm not there but I do go on Wednesdays, They would be fed and taken care of while I'm gone. they would be staying at my mom's for a week because of the size of the cage because it would be difficult to take it back and forth. Would this be okay for them? I've been wanting them for a while I just don't know if the situation I'm in would work out for them because I only want the best for them if I do get them.

Unfortunately sometimes some rats / mice just aren’t compatible and won’t live together as annoying as that is. If you’ve tried really slow introductions multiple times and made sure they’re not fighting over resources and have multiple of everything you may have to house them separately if some of them are clashing!
