Hi Polish Asparagus, what a great name! Thank you so much for your comments. I just cannot afford to build any more bikes, even though I enjoyed doing them very much, well some of the time anyway. Although I have sold each bike with great bidding on eBay because buyers could see the build, it never covers the cost of the parts...forget the time. The Cafe Racer I built (before I was on KZbin so still pictures only) cost me almost £10,000 and hundreds of hours and I sold it for £5,000. Being a pensioner I cannot sustain those costs. Watch out for the next video, which I will make very soon...my beloved 1250GS has gone. Didn't realise that my wife hated riding pillion on it. So Wife or GS, GS or wife. The GS has gone and something totally different is in my garage. Wait and see 😃

Another great video on many roads I’ve ridden but I didn’t realise you could go up to the top of Howden Reservoir. We stop off at the Carding Shed, south of Holmfirth, a good sized cafe serving great food and a collection of classic cars and the like to browse before jumping back on the bike again. Well recommend. Keep up the good work👍👍

I also never realised you could go up to Howden reservoir until I started to research 🧐, you have to try it. Also been to carding shed, it is amazing. Now why didn’t I include that in the route 😳

In the mid 60's my brother drove me and two mates from Nottingham to Manchester to the Twisted Wheel nightclub, after our night out we headed home via the snake pass in a blizzard ! the road had been closed but my brother being the person he was decided to go for it in his Austin A40 ! a nightmare journey clouded a little by our consumed alcohol.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Snake has the reputation due to the high number of accidents and fatalities. That is a reality. However, the road itself ridden at 50mph has little or no danger. It is very nice and flowing. The issue is high speed drivers and riders who will crash. Also the turn onto Woodhead (as a local) is far easier if you turn the bike on approach as if you were going to turn left. Then the angles work in your favour.

Snake Pass is a fabulous road to ride, I don't think the road itself is particularly dangerous at all. It probably does attract a certain type of driver/rider whose confidence is disproportionally higher than their skill and ability.

Hi Nick, you have eagle eyes. I need the GoPro remote to switch on and off the cameras as I ride. The new remote totally different from previous models so had to come up with a design that would take the remote and another GoPro camera. You can see it on my website www.normski-bmw.co.uk

Hi Helen, I power my GoPro from an external powerbank so it will film for 8 hours with a 256gb card. So often I just let it film all day and then cut the video to under 30 minutes. I find that over 30 minutes is too long ... but that is just me.

I used to really enjoy riding the Snake in the early 90's, on a GRXR1100, then on a gen 1 Fireblade, a different road back then with far fewer double white lines, lighter traffic and no speed traps! I did most of this route only yesterday in fact, Snake, right in Glossop over Torside, then up over Holme Moss but turn right in Holmebridge just before the bridge at the Pickled Pheasant, up over Thurlstone Moor back to Flouch and back over Strines and home. Yes, there have been fatalities on the Snake over the years but no more than any other route. Dangerous? Nah, just enjoyable! 👍 I've had more close calls over Strines TBH, not a major trunk route but much tighter, twistier and a bit of a magnet for boy racers unfortunately. They've just tar sprayed it too so I'll be staying off it for a while.👎

Hi Phil, absolutely right😀. The Strines much more demanding and dangerous than Snake Pass. I did my IAM Masters 6 years ago and the observer, a retired bank manager, took me over the Strines a couple of times as it tests everything about riding. I passed the Masters test but it only lasts 5 years and expired last October. Haven't taken it again because of the expense and I kept thinking 'why'...done it once!
