I can’t wait to give this a try. My snake plant that I have is a few years old and has grown out of control. It’s one of my many treasured plants. My boyfriend has been nagging me to split mine up so he can have one. Now I know a sneaky way to give him what he wants without having to part with most of my plant! Thank you so much!!
@AdelaBespejo5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lindsay, I am very thankful that you appreciated the procedure on this video. You have a good idea, you can just get a single snake plant leaf and cut it many pieces about 3 inch long and wait for 50 to 150 days. They will grow new baby snake plants. Here's what it looks like > kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5nSoJJ_aq5sec0

Hi just a tip, if you noticed there are some pieces that did not root, i learned before that when you cut the leaves you have to remember which is the bottom side and that the side you should stick in the soil.

If you are a beginner with plants, watch a more specific video on how to do this. This video fails to explain that you MUST have the bottom edge of the cutting in the soil, not the top, and this can be hard to recognize if you don't mark the cutting when you first cut it. Also, the yellow-edged cutting will NOT produce a plant with yellow edges. If you want one with yellow edges, you have to break/cut a rhizome from the mother plant and plant it.

Great video. For beginners like myself - Be sure to keep track of the top and bottom of cuttings. Snake plants won’t grow if the wrong side is planted. Also, cover cuttings planted in dirt with plastic wrap (etc.) if you don’t live in a very humid climate or they’ll possibly dry up.

Thank you very much for showing us the end results. So many people do not follow up or show that it actually works. However, It helps if you tell your viewer the soil composition you are using, so they have an idea what to use. Also, some people don't know that you have to put the cuttings into soil in the direction they were growing from the pot because if you turn them upside down after cutting them they won't root. Otherwise it is a great video. Thank you.

Hi, you are right, plants are our friends. They help us survive in this world.
Not sure if anyone's mentioned it before but the reason why some of your plants didn't root (create roots) was because you may have accidentally put them in upside down. I realised you did this. I think it may be the difference between a successful planting and an unsuccessful planting.

I'd LOVE TO see how these cuttings look after a while when they start growing into full plants!

Hi Joe, same here it's nice to see those roots of snake plants growing after a couple of weeks.

Hi! I literally just planted mine in soil 45 minutes ago. I never propagated a snake plant from the leaves. Usually I just take the 'pups' for new plants. From what I'd read before, it takes a lllllooonngggggg time for them to grow into reasonable plants from leaf cuttings ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.... I guess we'll both find out (not) soon enough 😜 Thank you for the vid!
