Snakehead and Mahseer fishing with lures!!!!

My friend and I hopped on a cab and went to this place outside of Bangalore and managed to catch a snakehead and a mahseer on lures. I used light baitcasting setups this time and it worked as the fish we caught were not that big. The snakehead was on a weedless frog lure and the mahseer was on a squidgy lure.

Nothing close to Bangalore man, sadly. You have to go to at least as far as Shimsha river to catch something. Cavery river around Mysore is much better than Shimsha river.

Spinner bait is also good for Snakehead. Use at least 40# braid as they're mostly around weedy areas.

I don't think neither of those fish (Rohu and Catla) take lures. At least not that I know of.

The only Carp I've caught on lures is the Mahseer. I prefer to use vibe lures for them. Zerek fish trap lure works well for them.

I think the lure is about 2 inches long without including the back legs (those that like things) I think it weighs about 10 grams.

I used a Shimano Teramar rod for the Snakehead and a Sure Catch Sure Bite Elite II rod for the Mahseer. I've used both of them in salt water and they are fine.

I release most of what I catch anyway. I do keep some fish once in a while though, but not Mahseer as they seem to be endangered. Besides, they're not great tasting from what I've heard.

That was the first Mahseer I caught a couple of years ago and I didn't expect the fish to take the lure there. I did what I could at that point. I try to be as careful with the fish I catch before I release them and you can see that in my other videos.
