It's called above snakes because it's old western slang for being still alive. Very suitable for a survival game.

"Above Snakes" was another way of saying "Still alive and kicking." in the Old West. Presumably it means you're not dead and buried so you're still above the snakes which are some of the lowest creatures on the ground.

I will say about the bow shooting, anyone who has shot a bow, especially a bow with high draw weight, will tell you that you don't want to hold it long if at all. So this is actually rather accurate in that regard.

I never seem to get animal respawns until I save, exit, and go back into the game. Easier than erasing map pieces and making new pieces.
