Divisibility test of 9 is to check sum of digits of the number. Now since the answer is a product of 144, so it must be a multiple of 9 (a factor of 144), so sum of the digits must be a multiple of 9, which helps in option elimination. For more detailed explanation, check any session on divisibility on the channel.
