I used a similar tutorial for years to make these pouches and referred lots of people to it. That website is now offline, and I am so happy I found this. I can make these practically with my eyes closed now, but having a tutorial to direct people to is wonderful.

Hi Vanessa , Love your method of making. I just finished a snap pouch yesterday using a hand embroidery for decoration. I got the hardware a few years ago on holiday and could not remember how to use🤣 but thank goodness for this tutorial, I am on a roll. We are in ‘Lock down’ in Canberra Australia, 9 cases of COVID in a City of 350,000. Thank you for helping me stay sane .

Great tutorial! I made this bag and I used an old metal measuring tape that I cut with some old scissors to fit it. I just put some black electrical tape on the ends so it wouldn't have sharp ends. Worked great!

Love to watch your videos-been sewing for about 55 yrs and embroidering about 17 years. Not to be critical but your lettering density looks as if it needs to be a little closer-of course-unless you like it less dense-even so--enjoy watching your videos. You are precise and I like that.

Of all your tutorials this is my favorite, what a cute container. I would make it longer and use it for a pair of glasses. Love your hardware choice also! Thanks for sharing with all of us.

Nice tutorial. looking forward to trying this. I am not fussy on the hardware showing at the sides. Think a way around this would be to cut two pieces of metal tape slightly shorter than the length of the casings leaving enough room to stitch down the sides after insertion.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. It was really the only one I found on KZbin that I could figure out! I lost my mom last year, and so my idea was to use her shirts to make something for each of my 5 siblings. This was perfect! In the end, I made 13 of them! Thank you again!

Great to have no raw edges! I make them to another pattern where the raw edges are folded in, so will try this method. I don't have an embroidery machine so I either hand appliqué or machine appliqué the motif, it's fine. Thanks Vanessa😊

Seems like the Juki machines handle multiple layers of fabric very well with a regular foot with little pulling. I have an older Kenmore, and an entry level Babylock and would certainly need a walking foot.

Made this today while waiting on wallet hardware to come in so I made a co ordinating glasses case but had to make it 1” longer to fit my glasses in safely as the first one was too short, I will have to find a use for the smaller one.

Hi Vanessa I have seen so many videos on snap pouches, and I was wondering why no one has made a purse size bag with that closure? It sure beats zippers. I can't find anything on it and would love to make one, but not sure how to add snap closure because I want to box the corners of the bag and make a purse Thank you

FYI: you can use a metal tape measure in place of the hardware she is using. Much cheaper. Purchase the tape measure at the Dollar Store. They are 8' in length so you can get plenty of pieces for this project.

hello, i am a complete newbie in the whole sewing thing, just got a new sewing machine. I would like to ask which needle would you recommend for sewing with the batting material? should i change the needle when i use it opposed to when i just sew two cotton layers together?
@TheCraftyGemini7 жыл бұрын
If the batting isn't super thick a universal 80/12 needle works fine for me. If you struggle with that size then go up to the 90/14. Hope that helps!

I would love to make these. I went to your site and it looks like the hardware is sold out. Were you using a 4 inch or 4.75 for this project?
@brenn40637 жыл бұрын
how do you get rid of the lines used for the embroidery?
@TheCraftyGemini7 жыл бұрын
Depends on the marker you used. I used one that disappears with the heat of an iron so I press the lines away. If you use a wash away marker then you'll have to wet it.

Hi Vanessa! I went to your website to buy the snaps top close the pouch and it appears that I'm going to be charged FL sales tax -- but I live in Colorado! Could you please confirm that I will NOT be charged tax?

That's weird! Make sure the address linked to your account has Colorado selected. If you want, email me and I will go into your account to make sure. It must be picking up Florida from somewhere.. weird.

I was doing so well until I got to the part where ur stitching the outer piece & lining together. I have them pinned correctly but am totally confused as to where to stitch! I've watched the video over & over. :( Trying to watch u so closely. I don't know but could my confusion be because my piece is so much bigger than your sample? Mine measures approx 8x11. Anyone else having this problem?? HELP!

Nice little pouch was to easy make, I had a lot of trouble trying to sew the 2 ends for the clip's. This part was not in our video. Can you please show me a easy way to sew the ends. I must be doing something wrong. Cheryl
@Ane08037 жыл бұрын
When sewing the lining to the outside fabric, instead of having to deal with the flap of fabric that makes the lining, and having to stop and start to sew the two together, what about tucking the lining into the pouch just to get it out of your way? You could easily sew a quick rectangle to attach the two together. At 4:50, that little flap of lining fabric. Then once sewn together, pull it out, and turn it right side out like you did. Does that make sense? =-{
