@TamasKiss-yk4st2 ай бұрын
Even the SD8G3 had a good GPU on paper.. but when you used it in games, the differences was huge.. Warzone Mobile is limited to 980p on Android, running about 10fps lower, and also with 99,x% GPU load (alias GPU capped..) meanwhile the iPhone is capable to run the game 1300p with better fps, and only on 93% GPU load (alias not even GPU capped, it's thermal capped, the GPU itself capable even a bit more..) So benchmarks are not tell you everything, the 980p vs 1300p resolution diff is huge.. (also iPhone have a bit higher rendering resolution in almost every games, so simply the fps comparisons arn't even fair.. if you compare the about 1600x700 rendering resolution with about 1800x780 the different in calculated amount of pixels per frame are about 30% more..)

Samsung Dex and similar functionality starts to be really useful with this kind of performance. Imagine the phone being able be docked to external screen, keyboard and mouse at work and home there should soon be something usable as a desktop computer.
@GaryExplains2 ай бұрын
That is a sentiment I have heard expressed a few times. For me personally, the idea of a dock for a phone that turns it into a desktop isn't a good one, and not because of the performance. For me, I don't want to undock my phone, drive to the shops to buy bread, then dock my phone again to carry on working. I just want a laptop, which I leave on the desk, go to the shops with my phone, and come back and find my laptop exactly where I left it with everything as it was. Every time I leave my desk, to walk the dog, to take one of my kids to their next thing, to get a parcel from a courier, whatever, I often need my phone and I don't want to dock it/undock 100 times a day. Nope.

As Apple stated in presentation they have the world's fastest CPU core.

Fast single-core performance is what makes a smartphone feel “snappy,” especially in everyday interactions where apps are quickly opened, closed, or switched between, and when responsiveness is noticeable in short, burst-like tasks. UI response, Web processing, small apps, photo capture, voice recognition, loading times, real time sensors like GPS all benefit from single core performance. This is beneficial for the great majority of people. Its the overall design, performance of the smart phone that matters to the majority of us, the memory bandwidth, speed the OS, video display quality, performance, multiple other ancillary chips like wifi, bluetooth, etc. Testing software might not be compiled, optimised for different OSs and so not producing fair results.

@GaryExplains maybe I am projecting here. But people who understand less about this kind of stuff use that as a justification for performance differences. Saying things like. The two CPU clusters are equivalent size wise so the performance numbers don't need these kinds of clarification.
@GaryExplains2 ай бұрын
@quantumdot7393 First, I didn't say that Apple could just add two more cores, that wouldn't work for the reasons you have alluded to, there is a reason why Apple chips only have 6 cores. Having said that the discussion around 6 larger cores versus 8 smaller cores isn't a simple one and it is relevant to say that the multi-core score, which was +11% higher, was achieved with 8 cores, of which the fastest two scored 11% less on single core. That is why we have a multicore and single core tests. There was a long period where Apple did better on multi-core and single-score, scoring higher on multi-core with 6 cores compared to 8 on Android. I said the same things then pointing out that Apple achieved the better multi-core score with less cores. Now things are different I am still saying the same and pointing out the differences.

The new chip is running cooler in the realme than the xiaomi and offers better initial performance. The Xiaomi with 8G3 only lost ~17% of it's performance after 10 runs. It doesn't matter the phone per se, look at the data. @@BeyondEllisBeck Yeah and when the other brands get to use the overclocked/for galaxy variant it will get some crazy scores and this is without armv9 hopefully they can sort it out in the courts in time for the 8 elite gen 2 whatever they will call it hopefully it should be armv9 architecture as it boosts the scores in geekbench by at least a couple hundred just by having armv9 instructions on top of ipc gains and any clock speed increases

Nintendo won't use these chips. They cost $100 in a phone and a Nintendo Switch Oled costs $300. Too expensive for the Switch.

Apple gpu throttling to their lowest after just one run is just pathetic. And everyone day apple has better sustained performance

Show me a game where peak gpu frequency matters, I'll wait
@Ajaykrishna97_2 ай бұрын
@kishimotodashoppee8632 peek doesn't matter, but sustained performance matters and apple is hitting it's lowest after just one run. Either they just set their gpu governor to just run a max performance for very less time just for the sake of benchmarking. With more AAA games porting to android we can see gpu performance matters the most.

5:04 actually, the drop was only %20 not %40. So samsung with sd gen3 is more stable than realme with 8 elite.

@hasanagera So it turns out I put the wrong label on the graph... The Xiaomi drops to 4115 at run 9, the S24 is actually 3474. If you follow the line you will see it is just above 3000 at the end. While the label is wrong the percent is correct. My bad. Sorry.

Meh. Performance might affect the purchasing choices of some people but not very many. People are quite happy to _have_ more of it, but almost all the time my phone is idle even when I’m using it, it just doesn’t matter. People who game care and there are indeed lots of them, but even then, features and cost are far more important.
