I think one of the challenges would be to form hybrid cultures from oghuz persian and greek. Then a muslim admin empire I guess would be the closest at the point of the map at the start. The conventional (likely untrue) story kind of goes that they were landless in the ck3 sense traveling for pastures and serving as mercenaries and later granted land (beylik or county in ck3) by sultanate of rum. (actually theyre the vassal of a vassal in the northwestern border of the sultanate of rum, around nicea and duchy of opiskion in game) Then mongol empire successor vassalizes sultanate of rum so I guess theyre vassal of a vassal of a vassal of mongol successor empire for a while? Then rum collapses into county tier beyliks and they start growing. Doing raids (I guess ck3 sense they would be clan but able-to-raid at this point), but also marrying byzantines and doing arrangements with them. Around this time they get rid of of the gallowsbait trait through piety and prestige I guess. Arguably they only become empire-rank at 1453 with taking Constantinople. (Basically taking byzantine empire title from a single county empire and renaming it in the ck3 sense)

Its a bit more complicated then that , İstanbul was just one of the citys name. But its name through the empire was indeed Constantinople/Konstantiniyye. It was only officially renamed to İstanbul after the War of Independence

There is a tradition called strength in numbers, with that u can get like 40 regiments of every stack of man at arms (with ~10 maxed out barack), it increases the number of regiments after barack upgrades. It can be really useful in late game.

You might want to check your settings because you can change how the conqueror inherits, you might have turned off inheritance

You can lose the conqueror trait if you don't use it to take over land, so dying right after you got the trait made the game think that you were not using it and thusfar not giving it to your son
