I am curious what the different would be if the heads were tuned to the same pitch instead of tensioned the same.

They have the same heads at the same tension. There is a difference in note produced, not the tuning.

the fundamental produced is physically predominantly dependent on the head tension/mass and the shell dimension, not the material used for the shell. if the shells have equal dimension, I wouldnt trust your tension watch method to be accurate - if you think your head tension is correct and the heads are actually 100% equal mass, then maybe the shell dimensions differ! In the end what I would want in a comparison of shell material, is to actually hear the difference of shell material - I think that can only be heard at exactly equal tuning and giving it a little rimshot as well! at different tuning its impossible to tell whats shell and whats tuning. 🍻 either way, I really like your channel and your snare battles, will keep watching! 🤘🏻
