Currently shopping for a snare. So many folks pointing me toward a metal shell but I have had a few over the years and continue to return to wood. I have an old birch Catalina that has been my work horse for years and I find it very versatile. I have been wanting to try oak or walnut. this video has helped make most of the decision. I will be staying with wood.

So nice . I’ve actually have the same Vinnie Paul Signature snare aswell as an Ultra Cast pearl snare. I’m looking into getting an Omar hakim ….. That blue pearl piccolo you had there sounds sooo good 😱😱😱😱

Good insight just wondering how an aluminium snare fits with the bunch

Thanks , so it would be a very bright direct attack , but attention on the mid range and it would be dry sounding. Some people say there's not much buzz from the wire , but I think that would depend on the depth

I think a metal snare would be really good for recording thrash, just cuts though the mix. Really good video btw

For me wood wins. More pleasing to the ear.

Strange there's no ring on the first metal one
@BrendrumJones3 жыл бұрын
I know , there was a little ring but didn't come through on the recording . It was tight enough in fairness
