Tim, you & Clint make a good pair. You teach people how to trap food. Clint doesn't teach people to trap, he teaches trappers to be better trappers. Kind of like High School and College, folks can go as far as they want to go with you guys. I did my first commercial job with all I learned from you, and had great success on that job. Then over the years i learned a few tricks from Clint, then used what i learned from both of you, and thieves how to make traps invissible to most. If you can fool a trap thief, you can fool any animal. God Bless for getting me started. What's it been, 15 yrs now? Time travels fast.

Great Video series, wish I had seen these years ago. I have a comment on the kill pole that you set in the last video. You mentioned that you had a large washer spot welded on top of the kill pole to attach to your snare. But then you used a earth anchor and attached the snare to it. I don't see how the animal is going to wrap itself around and hang itself that way. But I do understand the process you described in using the pole. The only thing I didn't see was using a branch pulled down with a trigger and a snare to catch your prey.

What is the purpose of the washer weld on the top of your 5/8 rebar kill Pole
@Meattrapper
@Meattrapper Жыл бұрын
It gives you a place up high to attach the snare. You want the snare attached up high so that when he wraps around the pole he hangs himself.

thank you so much these videos are amazing I have one question .you said to use the washer to clip the snare too but I didn't see you do that in the video since you used the Earth anchor is that why you didn't use the washer or do you run your snare through the washer so they will tangle up high? thank you
@Meattrapper
@Meattrapper 7 жыл бұрын
Justin Belt Good catch! You were paying attention! You can either clip the snare to the washer OR use an earth anchor. I failed to point that out, so I said one thing and demonstrated another. Either anchor point is fine. The washer helps a high strangle but can bend the pole. Personally I build my snares with anchors on them and I'm in the habit of using them. Thanks for watching!

I was able to pick up what you were laying down and pardon my newness but I had a hard time seeing your wire and how you attached it to the kill pole. Painting your wire to make it more visible on camera would help, it blended in too well, which I’m sure is the point.

I applaud your efforts to make a quick retrieval of the animals. As a Christian I won't eat an animal that hasn't been bled properly and rigor mortis is unacceptable to me. I like your ethics.

Does the snare go through the hole in the washer easily without bending the cable? Thank you for the video. Take care.
@Meattrapper
@Meattrapper 9 жыл бұрын
+Larry342516 Remember - you can clip it to the washer with a spring clip; or if you put the cable through it - you are putting the cheap extension cable through the hole - not the expensive snare cable so it doesn't matter if the extension cable gets a little deformed. If that s not clear let me know and I'll make a brief follow up vid.

I'm a real novice. Do you have a video or PDF of how to approach that which has been caught and 'dispatch' it? I'm assuming that means to kill it. As well as whatever else needs to happen at the place where it has been caught, gut, bleed, etc.
@Meattrapper
@Meattrapper 7 жыл бұрын
There are two types of sets - lethal sets that kill the animal or drown it, and non lethal sets that catch the animal alive so you can release it unharmed if needed. We use the term "dispatch" because KZbin is so politically correct and the anti's have a cow if you talk about killing an animal. Anyway, I use a 22 caliber pistol to shoot the catch in the head. After that, you either remake the set or pull everything out if you are done in that place. Hope this helps.
