You're catching them, and great call on not releasing a live rabbit. You never know how much stress was put on that rabbit, if there is any damage to its neck and throat area, or the combination of the two. To release a snared rabbit that has been caught around the neck is simply cruel because you have no idea if that rabbit will be able to eat even... You could be causing it much prolonged suffering. Like you said, nobody wants to do it, but if you have any respect for the animals you pursue, it's what should be done. Great call, and sorry for rambling.

It seems cruel to the average person to NOT release a live rabbit … but in reality you said it , you can never really know what is done to that rabbit internally ! Thanks for watching Charlie!

Yeah Charlie I couldn't have said it any better, you had a great day on the trail Braydon and you're doing great percentage wise and they can be smart at times and depending on the moonlight or time of day something alerts them, or they stop to eat the lifter stick LOL, now that my friend is a first for sure

Great round of snares and rabbits buddy. Always a challenge when they strikes up the snares. At least they did not bust them off. Take care. Great videos.

Good Call on keeping the Snared “lived” rabbit. You are in a good area, with lots of runs and leads…block off the leads Brayden, like Fort Knox, as you say!
@Braydencoish9 ай бұрын
Just waiting for some good weather that allows for me to throw out some more snares , waiting for a few calm days so they can really beat down their leads !

Awesome video. Great job. I nominate you for the new host of the Newfoundland sportsman. Maybe do up a video when you're cooking up one of those bunny's. Craving a pot of rabbit stew right now.

Either there is big rabbits and your snares are to small, or the rabbits are small and your snares are to big. Bumps into it and draws in it or jumps through and draws it in.
@Braydencoish9 ай бұрын
Think it’s small rabbits … rabbits are booming this year in this area and probably had a late batch of young ones. Which would explain the smaller ones at this time. Gonna make them all a tad smaller today either way !

There is quite a lot of sign around there. Better sign than in our area. You are doing well with catching them. On bright nights they can see the wire. Squirrels can pull them too as well. Sometimes it's a good idea to leave the snare there if it's been pulled to a few times but set another one near by. In a darker area if it's possible. Just a question , not being critical but is there a reason why you leave the snare loose when u tie it on the stick. Always looking to learn something. Thanks .Wishing you the best of luck..
@Braydencoish9 ай бұрын
I like to leave some loose incase it needs adjusting … can pull it tighter if needed , it is still strong you just have to tie it off well… also , on sets where I use a loose branch or something, I’ve learned and been told, that it’s harder for the rabbit to take that stick with the snares loose as opposed to directly attached to the stick, kind of a leverage type deal I suppose🤷🏻♂️

Thanks . Always something to learn.

You should setup a camera like NLGhostWolf. Curious if you have smart rabbits slipping your snares.
