honestly: the original had a little more roughness in the string sounds and obviously that mighty brass sound, which was just a little bit fatter and more gritty. but other then that, how lovely to see Larnell in it and Michael conducting ^^ and absolutely crazy what a fat sound you can get with only those few strings

RIP Shaun Martin @shunwun...So good to hear this version of Gretel, no less amazing than the version on Sylva. Wondering why the audio seems to be a millisecond behind the visuals... does anybody else pick up on that? Or is it because Larnell plays faster than the speed of sound? See you in Auckland in May!

Gretel cheat code for musicians... imagine 4/4 time but beats 2 and 4 are shorter than beats 1 and 3 -- Long+Short+Long+Short = 1-2-3-4, i.e., 5/8 time subdivided 3+2 -- Every. Single. Measure. 😎

Yes, this is from the original recording sessions! "Gretel" was originally written and recorded for 'We Like It Here,' but didn't make the final tracklist, and was later revisited with The Metropole Orkest for 'Sylva' which is the version you're probably familiar with :)
