Hi I have a xts2500 and it has the same error but I’m trying everything to fix it and I’m trying to go on other computers using cps and it’s not working do you have any suggestions

Unfortunately, your radio is a non-working brick. The only way to recover is finding someone who has flashing software. CPS won't fix it.

If you have a Fail 01/82, I hope this helps. If you disconnect power from the PC with a "Fail 01/82" the radio must be reflashed to revive it. If your radio has firmware lower then R12, this can make writing an FPP codeplug to the radio take forever and you stand a very good chance of the write failing.

Do you still have Ibuttons lying around? Are you doing firmware updates with methods you're allowed to mention? Most shops I know can't do any firmware or Flashcode updates on these things anymore.

FL01/82 can also be indicative of an EEPROM failure, especially if it occurs after you write a radio and it works for a day or so. These radios are getting close to 2 decades old, while the ATMEL Flash chips have write cycles into the millions, remember the ROS is doing background writes constantly in use. While what you are saying is absolutely correct reference using garbage China pride cables, unstable programming computer/OS, the reality is these radios are aged. In theory, it's an easy fix to swap in a new EEPROM if one has the proper skills and SMD rework equipment. That being said, 800MHz XTS are a dime a dozen, and a VOCON swap and slam in a new codeplug, tune and align and back to business.

Thanks so much for that information! I actually have had one unit that I've had for years that fail 01/82's without even being in program mode. I remember looking it up but it never occurred to me to swap EEPROMs or VOCONs from 800mhz units. I have several that I bought for parts. I just may try that. You're a sharp fella!

Love your posts! How can I wipe a used 2500 with ASK left on it? CPS shows nothing programmed into it, it obviously cannot write due to the keys.

@@ferrisvlogs Check ebay, there's lots of people who make a little cash on the side by doing that. Plan on paying 60 bucks plus shipping both ways. I'll do it for that, but you may find someone cheaper on ebay.
