The deer aren’t getting smarter year by year. You are maturing as a hunter and understanding them better. I’ve been chasing them for 60 years and believe me, they were pretty smart then too.

Good hunt dan. I didn't get out dad got 2f did see any my cusin got buck and doe wife took 2 doe. One cusin friend took big 8 they say. I still hunt 2a in 2b and didn't get out because I was sick. Yea loat hunter in woods especially north of 80 . God i sit one have 2 guy about top in dark or day light have to move some think by self stand up long sit guy in climer 100 yard to u . I shot missed doe behind us in 2022 in missed crazy out pa woods. I took deer last year time i gut got top hill make call had another guy tried set back spot told hit deer tag it down hill wait on help.

used to hunt around a place called catherine swamps in early sixties to late seventies, early sixtys it was nothing to see 40 to 75 deer, plenty of hunters moving the deer around, and it slowly dwindled the deer and the hunters have not hunted the big woods we use to call it. allegheny national forest. today closer to home and a lot less deer and more road hunters riding up and down the roads.Not to many in the woods moving deer.

Was successful opening day of Pa rifle. I was fortunate enough to harvest a doe in WMU 1B. I heard lots of shooting and saw about 10 doe and one small buck.

Try sitting until 10, then move and sit again from 12-2, move, sit again. Hunters on cold days move around 9. Deer don’t move much around 11-12. Then hunters move lunchtime and 1pm coming back into hunt. Deer also move then, and bed later afternoon before active in evening again. Thats my experience at least. A little safer doing it that way and not pushing deer around to people as much.

I'm 61 and I remember those days well - on p PA State Gamelands on opening day there'd be a guy behind every tree ! 😂

I remember hunting in Michaux State Forest by Bigglerville get on top Mountain above all the orchards and at Crack of light sounded like a war zone!Your could follow where the buck was by the shots going off down the bench and you knew deer was getting close be ready.Not now plus use to be alot of Grouse don't see them anymore.I live in Maryland I heard no shots early Muzzleloader and 3 shots 1st day I see more Pa hunters around Prettyboy Resevior bow hunting only then Md hunters !No one hunts anymore!
