That wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Perhaps she'll also man the box office and sell snacks in the interval. There was a female impersonator in Denmark who impersonated the Queen and at his last performance before he retired, she turned up to give him her best wishes.

@@peterc.1618 Not to be rude or anything, but calling him a female impersonator is very misleading, considering female impersonator is another term for a drag queen, which he definitely is not. He is an actor, who has played many different roles, mostly male. It is a very rare occurence that he plays female characters, and the female characters he has played are usually parodies of real women (such as the queen) in a revue/comedy setting, which is not unusual for male actors to do in general, and you wouldn't call any male actor who has ever parodied a woman a female impersonator.

I knew that she did a number of design "things" (book illustrations, embroidery work, costume design for ballet...) but I just looked on Wikipedia for the list of her interests and achievements, and the list is impressive - especially for someone who already held more than a full-time job. And what I have seen of them, is good work - NOT AT ALL "oh dear, she's the queen, so I guess we _have_ to...😩" No, good stuff. 😊👍

She is also a bit fan of The Lord of the Rings, and before she became queen, made a bunch of illustrations inspired by the books. She sent those illustrations to Tolkien, who decided to feature them in several publications of the book. Had she been born a few generations later, I reckon she would have been the D&D queen of Denmark. :D

Exactly! She is so talented and very artistically creative. She designs most of her own gowns and dresses as well. I shall miss her as queen but now I will look forward to more of her great work in the artistic and design fields.

Yes, she is an accomplished designer and visual artist. She designs for several of theatre, opera and ballet companies in Denmark, and she also designs her own elaborate gowns which she wears for State and other special occasions.

To expand on what OP said, The Queen became fascinated with Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings at the beginning of the 1970s, and, unsolicited and under the pseudonym Ingahild Grathmer, sent a series of sketches to the author. Tolkien was famously opposed to all types of illustrations for his work, because the readers were supposed to create in their imaginations their own conceptions of the universe described in the books. Nevertheless, the story goes that the author kept drawings from the unknown artist, and that two of Grathmer’s ink sketches were found in his coat pocket, while the rest turned up during a review of the estate after his death - with several even having Tolkien’s warm recommendations noted on the sheets. Her art was featured on the English release by by The Folio Society, and the Danish Gyldendal when they reissued The Lord of the Rings in 1977. the publishing house chose to use The Queen’s fluid, Art Nouveau-inspired illustrations, in which no faces are put on the main characters, exactly as Tolkien preferred. These works of art are examined in the film documentary J.R.R.T.: A Film Portrait of J.R.R. Tolkien (for those interested).

Royals aren’t politicians and have pretty much no power. Only in the UK (that I know of) does the Sovereign have even the remote possibility of exercising power and even then that’s only for emergencies or publicity. Also UK is always going back and forth with who they say is really in charge and they also keep giving powers to the King, that he doesn’t want!! An Ideal King simply watches the machine of government and Reigns in any problems that are unable to be solved WITHOUT direct intervention by the Monarch.
