Hi everyone, just thought I'd share a little video I tossed together of our Halloween yard haunt for this year.
Inspired by Dracula, we built a coffin for one side of the house, teamed it with fog machines, candelabras, and many dead flowers and ferns.
We've been building tombstones out of cardboard boxes for a few years, but could only put out a few. We usually fill the front yard as a cemetery, but the rain (the only time we've ever had rain on Halloween since we've been here!) meant we only used a few tombstones near the house.
While I didn't show them in the video, we also put up massive arches at the front of the property and hung bats from them. We staked in bat fencing alongside the arches, while down the driveaway, we built fencing from reticulation poly piping, old metal poles for stability, and then topped them with fleur de lis finials (curtain rod ends).
Jamie dressed as Dracula in the front window which seemed to spook the kids. It made them assume the 6 foot+ Dracula that 'answered' the door was real. That Dracula we made using a big art easel as the base, added stuffing around to create the body frame, draped him with rolls of black fabric weed mat, then popped his cloak on. Mom would creak the door open so just Dracula would show, then she would jump out from behind the door.
Hope you all had a fabulous Halloween!
