I blame hype beasts and this is why 1 example is the olive 9s people will call those trash because “Mike never wore those in a game” but those same people will go nuts and double up on a J Balvin or a Travis Scott not realizing Mike would probably not ever wear those! Then certain cats are cappin talking about they only wear OGS but you see them wearing all these different collabs that’s what is confusing these youngsters, because it’s not that they don’t care they don’t know what is what?

It’s hard to pass Jordan brand unless it’s a basketball star. None of the other big 3 sports stars wear shoes that you can wear casual like basketball shoes. If anyone ever could pass Jumpman it would have to be another NBA player sponsor. I think certain OG Jordan shoes do have appeal when retro’d though. List and Founds sold out instantly and resold well. Anyone who starts collecting shoes will always want the OG Jordan’s he wore on court. However there are sone OG’s with hardly any appeal at all. I’m sure I could name at least 10-15 Jordan OG’s that would sell out instantly for retail.
@JamalVarner
@JamalVarner 7 күн бұрын
I agree with that. The question is for how many more years will those same OG’s we grew up loving will sell out in today’s market. At some point I believe that the collabs will outsell the OG’s simply because of the hype and this generation can’t relate nostalgia of them.

I’ve been saying the same thing for the last couple years. A lot of “sneakerheads” only care about resale value/hype. When I started really collecting back in the early 2000s it was all about the love of sneakers. I think a lot of it has to do with these younger folks not having the connection to Jordan that is older cats do. We watched Jordan play and saw his impact. This younger generation only knows him for his shoes.

@Shoeperfreak31
@Shoeperfreak31 6 күн бұрын
There are two problems, first the way that fashion has gone Jordan’s/Nikes are no longer the go to shoe for streetwear for the first time since the late 80s. Second, most sneaker KZbinrs including yourself consistently have placed price tag on every shoe even calling shoes bricks now. There was no term placed on shoes that sat 10-20 -30 years ago. The place sneakers are now is actually where it should be for the next generation a hobby a place where you’re able to build a collection, miss out on some shoes you might want and hunt for them for a reasonable price. The people that stay through this time will be rewarded like we all were when stuff that sat that you liked years later were worth more and you could use them to trade for something else.

This generation has taken shoe collecting to a different level. But the bottom line is trends come and go and right now running shoes are in Jordans are not. In three or four more years running shoes will phase out and Jordans will be back. I’ve been in Shoe game for over 40 years and I’ve seen this twice before. But one huge factor is people are tired of paying high prices for shoes. Life is more costly than it’s ever been and that is a second huge factor.

The new era “Sneakerhead” either doesn’t care or they not aware of the history of OG Jordan’s that MJ wore on court. Nike seen that collabs make them the most money. When collabs started they were done with much more creativity & quality was A-1 now they just attach a name to a shoe to sell it but consumers have caught on to that as well hence why a lot of collabs don’t sellout or go below retail.

Every region has its unique history and taste to it. Everybody is copying everything so the originality is gone. It is never been this many people who loved shoes until the internet forced us to buy sneakers. The camping days was the craziest, Covid and the overkill on selling sneakers via goat, stock x, e bay etc. so much competition and it’s not the fact people want them it’s all about money and not the goal of a sale or wearing your stuff, and some stuff you hit big on a sale, or buy and other stuff you just do it for the respect of the game. Dudes would give away that stuff if it was small/big size for them. Or sell it for the real price Mom and pop stores gone, over saturation of colors, no new productivity. It’s suppose to be quality over quantity.

I have AJ4 Columbia and Oreos from 2015/2016 and outside of SB4s, there hasn’t been a AJ4 GR that comes close to those comfort wise. They don’t hit no more because there is no nostalgia with the new generation of sneaker heads.

Break !! We need MJ to start doing commercials again. They need to retro advertising campaigns to reintroduce the future to the culture. Additionally limit releases to 12 a year once a month.

Been thinking on this all day. Yea the culture has shifted. But there are SO MANY different things attacking the creativity of JB. I just wonder how much customizers have affected Jordan Brand.

They damn near need to go back to releasing one number a year in different colors like when they was originally coming out in the 90s! They need to make Jordan’s back kinda exclusive again!

This the best video you’ve dropped in a while! Sneakers are always evolving how wat have thought ASICS & New Balance would be 2 of the top brands now those dad shoes finally became cool. Sneaker You tube is so different I started watching in 2015 when ppl would really be creative with the content, from mall vlogs to sneaker collection vids to early reviews it was time but now like you Break it’s jus corny & everyone’s looking for a quick buck game is watered down.

The generation has changed, these kids don’t give a hell about a MJ they wear what they like not what WE want them to like, I’m just confused because again the old heads complain when shoes are sitting & selling

Plus the players they see represent newer product . Jordan brand failed sponsoring an athlete to carry the new or even retro products.

Nike is to Blame! Nike doesn't read the room well. High price retro's, we've seen a million times and not reaching out to the youth. They need to reconnect the youth with jordan in some way. Michael Jordan isn't a visible public figure, we can identify with anymore.

The culture is just different now everybody just wanna shoot us more exclusive that nobody else has people don’t even love shoes anymore. They just love how popular she is. And they keep increasing price of the shoe, which is crazy. This is why I’m hinting after 2025 to retire
