It’s hard to pass Jordan brand unless it’s a basketball star. None of the other big 3 sports stars wear shoes that you can wear casual like basketball shoes. If anyone ever could pass Jumpman it would have to be another NBA player sponsor. I think certain OG Jordan shoes do have appeal when retro’d though. List and Founds sold out instantly and resold well. Anyone who starts collecting shoes will always want the OG Jordan’s he wore on court. However there are sone OG’s with hardly any appeal at all. I’m sure I could name at least 10-15 Jordan OG’s that would sell out instantly for retail.
@JamalVarner7 күн бұрын
I agree with that. The question is for how many more years will those same OG’s we grew up loving will sell out in today’s market. At some point I believe that the collabs will outsell the OG’s simply because of the hype and this generation can’t relate nostalgia of them.

I’ve been saying the same thing for the last couple years. A lot of “sneakerheads” only care about resale value/hype. When I started really collecting back in the early 2000s it was all about the love of sneakers. This younger generation only knows him for his shoes.

The problem is too many ppl wanna be followers! This generation of “collectors” is all about hype and who is wearing what… ppl barely care about shoes.
@Shoeperfreak316 күн бұрын
There are two problems, first the way that fashion has gone Jordan’s/Nikes are no longer the go to shoe for streetwear for the first time since the late 80s. Second, most sneaker KZbinrs including yourself consistently have placed price tag on every shoe even calling shoes bricks now. There was no term placed on shoes that sat 10-20 -30 years ago. The place sneakers are now is actually where it should be for the next generation a hobby a place where you’re able to build a collection, miss out on some shoes you might want and hunt for them for a reasonable price. The people that stay through this time will be rewarded like we all were when stuff that sat that you liked years later were worth more and you could use them to trade for something else.

In general, if something is not hard to get or limited, people usually aren't buying it. When you know you can go to the store and pick up whatever shoe you want any time, there's no urgency or higher value associated with it for you to go get it immediately.

This generation has taken shoe collecting to a different level. But the bottom line is trends come and go and right now running shoes are in Jordans are not. In three or four more years running shoes will phase out and Jordans will be back. I’ve been in Shoe game for over 40 years and I’ve seen this twice before. But one huge factor is people are tired of paying high prices for shoes. Life is more costly than it’s ever been and that is a second huge factor.

The new era “Sneakerhead” either doesn’t care or they not aware of the history of OG Jordan’s that MJ wore on court. Nike seen that collabs make them the most money. When collabs started they were done with much more creativity & quality was A-1 now they just attach a name to a shoe to sell it but consumers have caught on to that as well hence why a lot of collabs don’t sellout or go below retail.

Every region has its unique history and taste to it. Everybody is copying everything so the originality is gone. It is never been this many people who loved shoes until the internet forced us to buy sneakers. The camping days was the craziest, Covid and the overkill on selling sneakers via goat, stock x, e bay etc. so much competition and it’s not the fact people want them it’s all about money and not the goal of a sale or wearing your stuff, and some stuff you hit big on a sale, or buy and other stuff you just do it for the respect of the game. Dudes would give away that stuff if it was small/big size for them. Or sell it for the real price Mom and pop stores gone, over saturation of colors, no new productivity. It’s suppose to be quality over quantity.
