Nice, I'm glad this came up on my recommended vids. Well presented. I don't know this for sure, but I think another detail that makes these "PE" is their two eyelet collar. The original retail Air Ships had three eyelets which gave them that '84-era high silhouette. I'm guessing MJ wanted more of a mid-top? If anyone knows for sure I'd be interested to hear the story. P.S. I have the pines and oranges and will definitely be interchanging them. It would almost be ridiculous not to.

great catch! yeah, MJ really seemed to prefer a mid format, even the cuts of his personal pairs were very mid-cut vs the retail highs. We really see the mid as the standard Air Jordan later on in the 90's. Few things are more prime-MJ than zoom air in mids.

Got the orange/red. Great price here in Oz. Tops for the history of this sneaker and it's simple/humble looks. In a way good on Nike for not putting any hype when this came out hence it's very affordable.

I came here to to see your view on leather quality. First time in your channel. I was suprised to see that you somewhat know what you're talking about in terms of leather quality.

Thanks, I guess! LOL I think that at the end of the day, none of the leather in sneakers is truly premium. I own a few truly premium leather pieces from brands like LV's vanchetta, and Sapatero, who used only full grain italian leather at the time. At the end of the day, much of what makes for good leather in sneakers will come down to what you're appreciating that sneaker for, and also what your expectations are at a given price point.

@@HoneycombManila well the leather in these doesn't look all that looks like dunk or af1 leather.. Maybe a little better. Everyone says price but reebok and Adidas put out better quality leather shoes for same price. Am tired of Nike treating their customers like trash.

One thing to note, is that the Yellow pair has the worst and thinnest leather out of all of the Air Ship retros. The Orange, Gray, AMM, Red, and Blue pairs all have the best leather with the thinnest topcoat layer.

Great question! yes, between the insole and the strobel board, there's a board last of cardboard. Retro feature, for sure.
