I am well educated, versed and experienced as a musician and a collector of music that matters. Before online music I had 3500plus compact discs, for example. I kid you not, I have TWO copies of becoming x. That album is, even if by accident, one of the best recordings ever made. An absolute masterpiece from start to finish. Here are two more examples of that type of brilliance for your reference. Morcheeba/Who can You trust... Hooverphonic/Stereophonic Sound Spectacular... It was a very special time for music.

See, yeah. I had a mixtape with Hooverphonic on one side and Becoming X on the other side. My teenage cousin and her best friend enjoyed it immensely in 1997 so I made them copies. Remember stepping into a club that summer and hearing the Armand von Helden remix of Spin Spin Sugar and seeing the responses from everyone. What a great time for music.

Gonna be that guy (gen z here, so forgive me)... I discovered Sneaker Pimps via GTA V... Strange way to discover such a great band such as SP, but to this day it´s still a relatively underground band or a cult classic. Never hit the mainstream but the band is absolutely adored by trip-hop aficionados and 90s old heads. And even though that burst of nostalgia doesn´t hit me like folks who heard it back in those times, it feels like I´ve always known and heard this band before V. From 6 Underground to checking out the rest of their stock from the Becoming X album, I haven´t been able to get these guys out of my head. Low Place Like Home, Walking Zero, How Do, and Tesko Su1c1d3 (my favorite) just hit my sound receptors a little differently. Wasn´t a part of the time period where this type of music flourished in but it has that kind of timeless sound that generations to come would pick this up. Well... hopefully. If they have any ears of objectively stellar music. Sneaker Pimps are one of those bands that have me longing for a time period I never partook in. Big thanks to Mr. Corner, Liam Howe, the beautiful Kelli Ali and the band´s contributers and former members. Also, finally an hq version of this music video. Hard to tell what´s going on and who´s who when all you´re seein is pixels.
