Not the actual shoe that was banned, but most people don't know what actually happened. Knowing this makes this whole thing really dumb.

It's a red and black sneaker. Black and red weren't my school colors. I was born in 1980 and the Jordan 1's were like snow sneakers because they were cut so high. I didn't like them. The Adidas Forums were the most popular sneakers in the early to mid 80's and they released for $100 in 1984 and Adidas still releases them for $100. Jordan 1 1985 was $65 in 1985, adjusted for inflation, the sneaker would be $173 today. Nike doesn't even own their own manufacturing factories and Nike's are made much cheaper than they were when they were 1st released. They want to charge $250 for a sneaker that costs $8 to $18 to produce. New Balance made in the USA and in England are not made in sweat shops and cost less

The bred marketing campaign isn’t about selling the 85 breds, it’s about trying to rejuvenate hype for the Jordan 1 in general, that’s why the marketing is so agressive
@matthewmccarty65084 сағат бұрын
Exactly! I just read your comment after I said the same thing
@charlielee7665Сағат бұрын
I could be wrong but I think the banned marketing strategy is strictly just to try and bring AJ1 hype back, even if they don’t profit much off it. Like 1 step backwards to take two steps forward. Although i personally don’t think it will work

They spent a ton on remaking them but decide to only produce 10 thousand at 250.00. Well I’m sure that logic will make the board members and stock owners happy I don’t buy it. Even if it cost 10 or 20 dollars to make them! I can’t believe any of it!

I feel like Nike should quit leaking the release calendar. Imagine all these crazy shoes dropping this year back to back without any heads up. People would go insane. The fact that we know what’s coming out a year in advance isn’t really doing them any favors.

I think it’s just a marketing thing saying only 10k available. No Fortune 500 company would put all this time and money into promoting only 10k. Asking if only 10k they would if individually numbered them like the Trophy Room 1’s. I think it’s 10k for All star weekend and then will drop more later. When they originally released in 1985 they had a limited amount on original release date and sold out. They had to produce more due to the demand

Love your vids, great content every time
@pat301856 сағат бұрын
Definitely more than 10k pairs. The 10k pairs rumor is for the all star weekend release. They'll be a wider release at a later date with a lot more pairs.
@brich68753 сағат бұрын
I said same thing. They wouldn’t pour so much into marketing a very limited sneaker. If so, they really need to question their board members. If only 10k they would have individually numbered each pair like the Trophy Room 1’s. I think they are keeping the actually stock amount completely under wraps

supply and demand. nike knows that if they put a ton of hype around this shoe when not alot is being produced, thats gonna shoot up the resale price by alot, thus putting more money in nikes pockets.

I think your takes are usually very spot on, but in this case I'm going to have to disagree. Air Jordan 1s are dead. People hate the 1985 cut. Most people buying shoes today weren't alive and/or don't really know or care about Michael Jordan and the stories that are attached to specific pairs. $250 retail is bananas for an AJ1. Before Complex came out with this clearly false 10,000 pair claim, a lot of people were passing on these for some or all of the reasons I listed above. I'm assuming a big part of Nike's marketing strategy was to float out that false stock number and watch people go crazy. Most of these so-called sneakerheads today only care about hype, resale, and getting/having what the majority cannot. The actual shoe doesn't always matter a ton. I could be wrong, but I am really thinking there's more than 10k pairs. I'm guessing there will be a group of people that are going to pay the backdoor or resale price and a handful will get them legit. Once the hype dies down, you're going to have a bunch of people with this shoe that don't actually want it. Most of the people that do want it aren't going to be paying $600-$1000 and prices will fall. We'll see in the coming weeks and months though. Still love the videos.

@fubar43455 сағат бұрын
The OG’s had various toolings, and very different toebox shapes, the production between the different factories wasn’t so refined as these days. It comes down to the shoe that they picked to “reverse-engineer” it.
@voidhelix995 сағат бұрын
@fubar4345 bro I will put money on the ground that the last two 85 OG's have the exact same shape and tooling. In 1985 Nike didn't have the resources they do today. You think they're just throwing away that tech like it was trash. Not buying it.
