I've been watching travellings to Croatia on Twitch and whenever the streamer questioned an officer they were polite. Some occassions where they just ignored. Not calling all cops corrupt but it happens more in countries thats between 1st and 2nd world countries. With American police it usually differs from the crime/suspect. I'm not American myself. But yes they can be very harsh fast, but also some could be very patient. It's like that all over the world. Some can give a suspects over 20 verbal warnings meanwhile some cna give 3 warnings then using the baton to break ur window

I live in a more rural area and we know most cops here by name, so officers here are even more friendly, and we dont mind tourists(nobody in our country really does) as long as the respect our country and culture. PS we do joke about police coruption in our country, becuse we just kinda accepted that some officers will take a few bucks and let you go from a traffic stop(do not attempt that you WILL get arrested becuse the corruption is not as bad as pepole think)

dont think they are acting this way bcs they want it. They act like this bcs they are probably ordered to act this way. This territory is a part of an ongoing dispute on top of being the schengen border. If croatia doesnt prevent people from entering, it is not protecting the schengen area, and if it does prevent people from entering then serbia can claim croatia is doing so because it is a part of croatia, which is way croatia usually arrests people and then just lets them go because they dont know what else to do....
