I was playing Chernarus when a fellow survivor, named Jack, came up to my fire about to kill me and a friend I met on my journey for our shoes. He decided to spare us and gave me one of the best DayZ experiences ever. He gave me tips on how not to get cholera, how medicines work, stealth fires, etc. He had also recommended this channel, so I'm writing this in hopes that he might stumble across this comment. Thanks for the good times man! Hopefully you two were able to avenge me! Long live the red team!

You need to prepare yourself before even leaving the coast. Gotta make sure you have water, food, and good clothes. As long as you stay hydrated and stomach full your body will build a good immune system and it lowers your chances of pneumonia. Always try and get a heat buff as many opportunities as possible

You can run from one end of the main island of Sakhal to the other if you full stomach, have atleast one water bottle, and have some good insulation clothes. Every so often stop to regain your heat buff. Unless you get wolves or bears aggroed on you or hostile players, it's an easy cross country trek. It is easy to get lost and turned around if you lose your bearings. The interior of the island, food is scarce unless you hunt animals, except for bears and wolves which will get you sick if you eat their meat. Always fish up some extra fish after you have filled up your food meter before you leave the coast. All the water inland is frozen and ice fishing isn't a thing. So far people have said you can't grow crops either.

I'm about 14 hours into my current life on official servers. You gotta take it slow. Fishing is pretty much a necessity. I got lucky and found a cooking pot somewhat early which helped a lot.

That's why you don't get off the coast unless you have clothing, food and a weapon/ammo. Im amazed at how ppl are finding it that hard. Common sense not so common.

Also I feel like this goes without saying but if you’re ever stranded in snow… don’t eat it for hydration you WILL just dehydrate yourself more and your body will expend energy trying to melt it into water. On top of that the snow itself will lower your body temp so you’re basically just all around screwing yourself to die uncomfortably and still thirsty lol

I've been talking about a poo mode for ages. Flies could also be on the piles and you'd know someone had been there. You could bury it if you were being extra careful. A pee mod and yellow snow would be fitting as well.
