HI Darren! when I do a trace how can I insure the traced image is the area that the laser is not going to print? meaning the square for the chess board is going to fill but leave the design out of the fill...so the design is not printed but shown through the actual material cheers!

When you do the trace of the image - make sure it is also a fill layer - then when you overlay on the fill squares you will get the inverse effect on the traced image :)

Hi Darren I am running Lightburn 1.4.01 for whatever reason my sqaures are not filled dark like yours? What am I doing wrong?

Hi there Mike - could be a couple of reasons - has the layer been set to "Fill" or is it "Line" - if it is Fill then the next thing you need to check is under Lightburn settings (the two little gear cogs) has the slider for "Filled Rendering" been switched on?

I am very new at this and your videos have helped a ton- I am learning soo much! my only other question is- I am running a Longer Ray5 10w. basically the speed and power is what makes it engrave rather than cut? or is there another option i need to be using? You're welcome Mike - when it comes to diode lasers yes - speed and power are the two variables that determine the finished result - the best bet is to do a material test on each new material you use, so that you can identify the optimum settings for engraving and the same for cutting.
