Fun fact about Aryabhatta. He didn't invent 0. He gave it a shape. Before that, the concept of zero was denoted with a space. Obviously it caused problems. Once null was given the shape 0, numbers became consistent.

shubh, almost every invention is done by continuous inputs from previous generations. Today maybe we would think what could have some silly inventions contributed to the society, but who knows what this world would have been now without those contributions. And coming to your argument, idea is generated by the one who discovers the need, and solution is given by the one who understand the significance of that idea and dedicates his life for it. The one with the idea and the one with the solution can be a single person sometimes, sometimes not. This doesn't mean that the one behind the idea should be discredited, but he came across that idea and failed to recognise its significance, failed to come out with a solution, and thus failed to be mentioned in history.

To echo Rohan's point about reading different perspectives and stories in history, the century trilogy of books by Ken Follett is a great series in historical fiction. Follett encompasses over 100 years of history across 3 novels, starting in the 1890s and going all the way up to Obama stepping on the podium in 2004 going 'Yes we can!'

Himmat Singh Bhishma pitamah the most powerful warrior of all in mahabharata. Great man. He could have singlehandedly bought glory to kauravas, if cunningly shikandi wasn't brought to kurukshetra by pandavas. It was all lord Krishna's wish and so be it, but I admire pitamah a lot.

Shinu Managoli Well him getting severely injured by Arjun's arrows (with shikhandi taking the blame) was just a prophecy which had to be fulfilled. He also had his demons...with the draupadi mishap and he had to fight for the kauravas because he wanted to save and serve hastinapur and fulfill his oath...but yes an amazing character with so much intense character traits
