I believe that this was literally just an establishing sketch. Now that they have the meme, the bench, & a constant flow of guests & friends of the show & cast (& guests sometimes). It loans itself to alot of easy humor, but yeah.. It was nearly jokeless.. But we know Ego runs the bench

The prior week had solid sketches throughout the night. Most every week there is a really good sketch. Last week was a snooze. It never fails that someone that says what you said will try to explain away truly great sketches through the years. Either you don't want to admit you were wrong, can't remember the numerous bad sketches of the past, or you haven't really watched anything in the past 2 decades and assume the are all garbage from the little bit you saw. That said, this had potential but was done poorly.
