it's actually the opposite for me. breaking during a semi-funny skit is awesome. But when you have someone delivering an almost oscar worthy performance without missing a beat, it seems disresectful and a way to make it more about yourself. There have been instances of some past members who would do this, but Pete would break in just about every skit that wasnt pre-filmed. To me, he is just copying Fallon's whole "deal", who actually ripped it from Sandler. And Sandler was the og of breaking because when he did it, it worked and didn't seem like he was forcing it to cover up a lack of acting skills. This is STILL one of the best SNL sketches, but would have been the very best if they would have chosen ANYONE else who didn't giggle like a little girl breaking the intense nature of Drivers performance. This has always bothered me because Adam was DEEP into character but Pete couldn't even barely complete the simplest of lines. Mikey Day or really ANY of the other cast could have done so much more with The opportunities that Driver was giving a young "actor".. But instead relied on the ol' trusty break, rather than elevating the host's performance.
