DKC2 is probably one of the best speedruns in general. Nearly every level has something cool, and for runners it has a lot of beginner strategies, and then a LOT of more advanced strategies to slowly reduce your time as you learn them. It's pretty exciting to watch someone on the verge of a PB trying to surpass it. DKC is almost as good, and DKC3 is more of a "normal" speedrun since there's not as many crazy tricks, still entertaining though. All the games are fun runs, DKC3 just slightly less. I don't really know about Returns, but Tropical Freeze is also a badass run.

Slightly more advanced stuff below as There is a way to get into the Lockjaw Warp without having to Team Throw, but the timing is precise (I wanna say frame perfect, but I'm not entirely certain that's true) on the jump from the corridor to its left. If you fail you lose a couple of seconds performing the Team Throw... Kannon's Klaim: There's a technique called a Big Boi where you Team Throw into the Kannon then get some extra height to get the rebound Team Throw into the Warp Barrel. You mention this technique later in the vid, but the first time the Big Boi is prevalent is here. Other than that, awesome beginner's guide! :)

This is very interesting. If there were any game (or game series really) that I would learn to speedrun it'd be DK Country 2 (and possibly other DK Countries) The thing that made me think about it is the GBA version of DK Country 2 because it has a little mode called Diddy's Dash. It's a time trial mode and once you beat the 5 minute limit on each level, Cranky comes out and challenges you to beat _his_ times. I basically felt like I had to become a speedrunner in order to beat it (which I did). That brings me to something though that does bug me about speedrunning. It bugs me that if you want to speedrun a game, you effectively just have to look it up and you'll just be given tutorials on how to do it. These tricks you show here are fascinating, but I didn't know most of them (I only found a few of the warp barrels by myself). I managed to beat Cranky's tough times just by figuring out my own strategies and methods. These tricks are ones that you and other people just tell each other. It's still impressive that someone figured them out and to do them, but it's less impressive that you essentially get told what to do and just memorize them. It makes me want to create a new type of speedrun, one where people figure out their own speedy ways through games and don't just look up tricks online. I'd call it something like "Original Speedruns" or "Self Speedruns". (Also, joining the nag train to say that "Quay" is pronounced like "Key")

Personally I like DKC3 in a special kind of way. I kinda liked the brother bears and their barter system you had to do to get banana birds and access secret areas. The bear coins were kinda a neat addition. I also liked the banana birds and the boat system. The Swanky snowball target mini game was more interactive and funner then the quiz game show mini game of DKC2. One of the major features I liked the most is the level markers indicated weather you completed the level or not making it easier to find an area where you missed something. The game saves were also free. Granted the first save in each world of DKC2 was free but I feel being charged 2 coins for more then one save did make things rough especially when you consider the hints and funky flights and swankies quiz bananza. There are also nods to Mario 64 and the Nintendo 64 as well. There were frustrating times and kiddy kong can be frustrating at times as well but there are some cool secrets that do look neat like running on barrels and kiddi kong if timed right. DKC3 also had my favorite K rool persona Baron K. Roolenstein my goodness that name rules. The music and over worlds gives you that open wildlife reserve feel as well as many of the levels and I love the opening to the game. DKC3 may not be the most popular DKC in the series but it still holds a special spot in my heart as one of my most cherished childhood games of all times. That being said While DKC3 may not have as many flashy tricks and techniques I still found a appreciation for the game would recommend it to others willing to try it. But when it comes to dk games with flashy speedrun tactic list look no further then DK 64 which has some really neat any% glitch methods that I am sure would make for a fun topic to explore in a future video.

Also, for anyone trying to speed run, don’t mess up the Castle Crush warp or you could crash the whole file. Google Castle Crush glitch lol.

I love these guides. Quick thing though: You keep saying "speedran" when you mean "speedrun." For example, near the end you say the DKC series is "a perfect diving-in point if you've never speedran a game." Just think of "run." "You have never ran" is incorrect. "You have never run" is correct. The only time you use "ran" is when you're talking in the simple past. "Did you run?" "Yes, I ran!"
