It's crazy how tiny differences can make a huge difference in snooker yet a lot of ok average players can compensate subconsciously with their eye

This is what we have being talking about and fortunately my Coach, Master Cyril Rogers truly made it easier for me to understand clearly & trying to be consistent in being easy on a shots... I am impressed by this video to be clear & making easier for us out there to understand the basic and fundamentals of the game. Thanks again, we in South Africa we very thankful for this Video.

Some good tips thanks 👍 I watched loads of snooker tips videos and my technique improved in lots of ways, but I still missed easy shots far too often. I eventually realised I was concentrating on too many things on the shot which caused the misses, and I’ve seen a big improvement by planning my aiming and power before getting down on the shot, check I’m happy with aiming during feathers, then concentrate on NOTHING except pushing the cue through straight, at the power I planned and hitting the cue ball where I planned. It’s easy to forget that’s what makes all the difference to your shot when you take on lots of new tips.

Focusing on delivery in this case on longer backswing rather than potting the ball has definitely improved my game, it almost takes the pressure off immediately.

Love your videos. But I'm struggeling to get that one. Maybe because english is not my first language. What do you mean, not knowing where the center of the cue ball is? Does that mean the mass center is not the same as the geometrical center? Due to manufacturing? I am confused.
@AD-kv9kj
@AD-kv9kj 5 ай бұрын
He's talking about tiny fractions left or right of centre - the demos in the video are very exaggerated. It's easy to pick out roughly the centre of the cueball every time, but to get it more or less exactly right consistently requires a lot of practice. You have to focus on exactly how you're addressing the cueball in practice, delivering the cue and also seeing the detail in what you're doing. It's easy to forget that to strike the precise centre of a sphere with a small, domed cue tip and also be consistently delivering the cue straight along the line of the shot and with a nice, smooth accelerated delivery and gentle timing etc is very difficult, as we all know!

Ok I play pool so this may be a thing in Snooker but surely you can use the Tip of the cue to determine if you are going to hit the center. When down on the shot and cueing up to the center of the white, if you bring the tip close to the white and the distance between the edge of the tip on either side and the edge of the white are equal, your surely hitting the center. Good tip, yes this has been a big problem for me. The problem seems to be that if your head is not _exactly_ aligned with the shot line, and hence your cue is visually coming in at a (barely perceptable) angle, it becomes very difficult for people to see whether they are in the center by looking at a single point on the tip. Perhaps using your method of using 2 points makes it a little easier. But even then it can be tricky, because your brain assumes the cue tip is coming in perfectly perpindicular to the cue ball and can't always perceive the slope of the tip. For example if you imagine the tip as a 45 degree line and you align the left and right points of that line with a cue ball, you can get perfect distance on either side, but it is definitely not in the center, as viewed perpindicular to the line. If you know what I mean? I could explain it much easier if I could draw diagrams on here.

Break from life, what I've been finding lately is that if my head is perfectly aligned, (i.e. if the edges of the cue ball and object ball are perfectly aligned in my vision) then I can find the center of the cue ball very easily, but if my head is rotated slightly and looking down slightly the wrong line, then my perception of the cue ball center is wrong. What makes this tricky is that it's not always wrong in the same way, sometimes I perceive right side as being in the center and other times I will perceive left side as being in the center, and it all depends on how my head is aligned relative to the cue. Tiny errors in how i align my head change my cue ball perception a lot. This is especially evident if I try to make adjustments. For example if I get down and start feathering and notice my cue tip is not quite centered on the object ball, and I make a tiny adjustment with my cue, now my head is pointing along the original line I got down at but my cue is pointing on a different line. Then when I look at the cue ball, I can't find the center, because my head is not on the right line anymore, it's rotated slightly. This error will be different depending on whether my adjustment (pivot) was to the left or to the right. Of course there may be work-arounds such as carefully examining the left and right edges of the cue tip to work out if I'm shooting across the ball to the left or the right. But simply looking at the cue tip as a 2D object, it's extremely difficult to identify the center if the cue is coming in at any kind of angle. What do you think?

i always try to steer when taking a shot putting unwanted left hand side as a right hand player. So basically cueing around the chest. The funny thing is i can cue straight when on the baulk line without balls and also if i play 1 ball to a pocket. But whenever i need to hit another ball to pocket it i get this constant yipps and twitches. any help? I've tried EVERYTHING. Nothing works

Could finding the centre of the cue ball change with the professional balls? And wouldn't your stance change when you use a rest.

Great vids, great channel. But I got a little confused here as you say (in a straight shot) that we can hit the centre of the CB but miss the centre the OB that we were aiming at... Sorry, could you elaborate more, please? Thank youthak you!
@dhirajpallin2572
@dhirajpallin2572 6 ай бұрын
I believe what he means is that what you perceive as the center of the cue ball is not actually the center of the cue ball when viewed from perfectly along the shot line. For example, if your head is not perfectly aligned with the shot line, then when you look at the cue ball you will actually be looking at a "different center" of the cue ball. Think about it, because the cue ball is round it has infinite centers, depending on which angle you look at it from. So if you're looking at the cue ball from a slightly different angle to the direction your cue is pointing in, it'll look dead center, but relative to your cue it's not actually the center.

Why are straight shots harder if you strike as slowly as possible?
@Breakfromlife
@Breakfromlife 6 ай бұрын
They can be. Again as I explained in this video it’s mostly because of seeing where straight is. Also unwanted sidespin can make things even more awkward. If the cue ball doesn’t run straight it can be difficult to line up slowly
@tonicogsf
@tonicogsf 5 ай бұрын
Also, if you’re nervous, it might make you cue less straight, but truth be told, if you’re nervous you’ll probably also have problems with playing faster shots.
@tonicogsf
@tonicogsf 5 ай бұрын
And let’s be real, as slowly as possible is not the natural way you arm wants to go. It wants a least a bit of acceleration.

I have no idea what you're talking about. At the end of the day, hit the damn cue ball in the middle, if that's what the shot calls for. If it requires bottom left, use bottom left.

As someone who frequently struggles with this, it's to do with perspective! He's not saying to hit the ball in a different place, it's about the perspective of the center of the cue ball
