I am beginning to work on my skills. Your explanation will help me to build a good foundation for my play. I'm so glad to have you as one of my coaches.

Hi Steve I thought I was was okay using the rest but after watching this video it's definitely going to make me use the rest a lot better another excellent video thanks.

Hi Steve, thanks for that. Rest play is an area where I’m weak at and will try and use your tips. Thanks!

Nice Video, Any ideas for practice routines for the rest? Line of reds by the side of the black is all I do at the moment.

Hi Steve, a very good video thanks but I found it difficult to see your stance for rest play in relation to the shot being played. You showed us your stance but we cannot see the rest or the cue at the same time. Cheers.

Thank you. I will do another video in the future with some better angles 🙂

Hi Steve, I have difficulty to do a drag shot with the rest, do we have to shorten the bridge so the cue won t lift the cueball or what ?
@BartonSnooker6 жыл бұрын
Hi. You would want the same principles that I talk about in this video. You want to use your normal backswing and accelerate through the bottom of the white, but not too hard. Just remember, this is a difficult shot to play even if you had your hand on the table. I think a common problem on these shots, would be that players don't pull the cue back very far when using the rest. Make sure you pull back enough, so that you can smoothly accelerate through the white ball.

Would like to see more advanced rest play tips. I’m ok with the rest but getting backspin when there is say 4 feet between cue ball and object ball I really struggle with and the pot is missed badly. I can get very good backspin when the white is closer

sounds like a rare scenario

Hi Steve hope see this comment. You talk about sliding the rest on the line of aim/shot but what if got balls in the way stopping you from doing that? How would you do that correctly
@BartonSnooker2 жыл бұрын
You just have to get the rest on line as best as you possibly can. There's an ideal way of doing things, but often on a snooker table we just have to do our best. It's like when we can reach a shot and stretch on the table, sometimes you just have to get your body into position and not worry about looking "perfect".

This is 1 part of my game I really struggle with. I either just pot the ball and sacrifice position or I miss pot and get position. I genuinely think my lack of ability with the rest is the reason I'm not a better player. I blame myself as when I was a kid I taught myself to play left handed eliminating most rest shots.

there is no way around not learning properly how to use a rest. lest handed is a bonus, rest is a must

Rest plays are just pain in my ass.. sometimes I could pull 40+ breaks with some rest plays but sometimes I miss every single shot with the rest
@99baji994 жыл бұрын
I've almost never seen a pro miss a rest shot - I'm surprised someone doesn't use it like 90% of the time.

you lowered your right hand during stroke, therefore the cue did not travel in a straight line
