For me y'all are forgetting the most important thing. This album is the spirit of hip hop. The album was written naturally and with pure fun, and if you don't get it you're just listening to judge. In most songs there are no chorus and average people feel like the music is bad, but the reality is this music is not necessarily made to be on top of the standings. This people were just having fun, writing their own shit, letting new music influence their wants not their choices. The production mixes old school hip hop with modern music and more like no one ever does. This album demonstrates that Snoop and Dre can do their shit, breaking the scene, without caring that someone have to understand it. This was the intent and they just nailed it.

I think the album is a really good listen overall. I'm enjoying it. Definitely Snoops best album since Blue Carpet Treatment. Snoop's flows are on point and his rhymes are solid. I do agree though, Snoop seems a little out of his element at times, and he gets kinda lost in the busy production and unfamiliar sound. That's on Dre though. You can tell he had full control of this project. But, I can listen to this one straight through because sonically, it's so detailed and crisp. Dre dots every i and crosses every t. The features of Sting, Tom Petty, and Jelly Roll don't really belong on Snoop album imo, but the songs are well done. Method Man, 50, and Em are some notable features. Would I have liked more of a G Funk sound? Absolutely. (Where was DPG and Tha Eastsidaz??) But after Casablanco, Dre is on another level with his production. (You can tell he was working on these two ablums simultaneously, or at least back to back.) Does it feel like a Snoop album? Not really. At times, he seems like a feature on his own album. But there are some bangers in there and I welcome some new sounds from these two OGs.

Nah bro! Yall missed the mark on this one. Missionary is one of the best albums of the year. Snoop is rapping like he’s trying to win the heart of his wife all over again and Dre’s production is above reproach!!! And the second 1/2 is the strongest, btw. Keep listening

They didn’t even mention “now or never” which was the best produced song on the whole album in my opinion

Expecting a “G Funk” sound is like expecting strawberry flavor in grape flavor. C’mon guys. I highly question your ears for hip-hop - credibility completely out the window. No one can take your opinions seriously after letting this one fly by you. It don’t matter if you’re in your 20s or 50s, good music is good music and not to be impressed on the production sounds of Dr. Dre goes to show how we’ve lost ability to detect actual good quality sound. Just compare it on your headphones to the average music out there and it’s like Dr. Dre’s stuff is 4KHD versus antenna quality TV.

Honestly, I prefer the production here much more than GNX. So many details to catch.

Random thoughts : Easy listen but average.. Would’ve loved more humor and I think the Eminem feature should’ve had dark humor like in bitch please 2 when he used the snoop voice I’d rather hear a Nate Dogg sample than sting The whole Album launch felt meh and it ended up being meh The back and forth with Dre and snoop was great though

This album has like 5 or 6 good songs on it and the rest are just average beats to fill out the album. After waiting 2 years for this project, I'm shocked the quality of the tracks were so low. Glad I didn't buy the vinyl or CD copy cause it does not deserve the support. The dogg pound album WAWG that came out earlier this year sure does. That album has better tracks front to back!!

It needs to be a Dre and Snoop album called the end with a double album 30 songs total. It would be Snoops last project.

I'm a fan of Snoop Dogg's music and have all his albums. The problem of many of his past albums is that they are too long and he is often hit and miss with his raps and cadence. With Missionary, Snoop has never sounded so good in terms of delivery and cadence since Doggystyle IMO (it's just not the smooth flow e is known for). You are never going to get a lyrical masterpiece with Snoop, it's not his USP, it's his flow and charisma. If you were hoping for traditional G-funk & the 2001 sound, you will be disappointed, but if you try to listen to it on it's own merit, it's definitely solid. I couldn't get into some of the track at the first listen, but soon felt into the vibe of the production. The criticisms I had is that it lacked a couple of real universal anthems like The Next Episode, Sill DRE etc that everyone (hip-hop and commercially) love. The production, was super clean but lacked soul and warmth - the treble was a little too high and lacked bass. I though they should have replaced Fire with another song. It's not whack, but I just wasn't feeling it compared to the other tracks and reminded me of the Snoop Lion project. Overall, I love that this album was under 50min, as it didn't drag on and kept me coming back for more. This is a type of album I just let play from beginning to the end. and appreciate better as a whole body of work/project than it's individual tracks.
